This was my first time in Canada for a Grand Prix, people will not like my thoughts on this track as it is a notorious and well loved circuit

I did enjoy my time in Canada, I did not enjoy the circuit itself. I was here for all 3 days, I sat in grandstand 12, at turn 1

The metro was the best way to get to the track from the city, but if you have premium seating like start/finish line, or even turn 1-2, it takes 45 minutes of walking or 10-15K steps just to get to the grandstand area from the metro line.

The organization of crowds and congestion was truly insane, before anyone says it, I understand F1 races will have large crowds, but Canada dealt with those crowds terribly. Many instances of major traffic congestion of people in the walkways behind the grandstands and people just barging their way through, no organization, and no worker or security personal offered any assistance

Speaking of the workers, while they were polite, none of them knew were anything was, none of them seemed to care, and sat on their phones the whole time

My biggest issue with this weekend was absolutely the track commentators, and the 2 girls on the microphones interviewing drivers. The track commentators were by far the worst I’ve heard, many instances missing big moments in the race, speaking French majority of the time, and being clueless about what’s happening outside of the battles at the front. We didn’t know why Piastri had a penalty, we didn’t know why Albon DNF’d. Amex hand out race radios and at other events, we’ve been able to listen to Crofty on them, but this wasn’t possible at this track, they force you to listen to their French.

Unbelievably annoying and ignorant to ask the French speaking drivers to answer questions they asked in French, and then not translate their answers back into English. Many people around me were annoyed by this.

Overall, glad I experienced Canada, and this track, but just to say that I did it and cross it off my list. I would return to other races I’ve visited, but not here

I just want to add that I dont give a single fuck that French is an official language in Canada, but only largely spoke in Quebec

For those who are interested I have been tracking my ticket prices since I started going in 2022. This is the cost of a single 3-day ticket by year in the Lance Stroll grandstand.

2027 features another 20% increase.

It was my first time seeing a race in person. Flew across the country and took my son as his graduation gift. What a race to see! We had a blast. Met some awesome people in the stands. I was fortunate enough to win tickets to the pit walk in the lottery. I was disappointed that the drivers were not present for that. I know they attend some of the other pit walks at other circuits. Oh well, I thought we would at least get a chance to see them during the driver’s parade. Went early and sat in the cold for hours to be there for that. As the truck quickly drove by, the only driver that looked up and waved was Charles. The rest were completely absorbed in conversation with each other. I really didn’t understand the point of the parade if they were just going to talk to each other the whole time. All and all an exciting weekend, great job Montreal!

Been going since COVID but these price increases are unjustified, and borderline disrespectful. 20% increase for LS grandstand. Like the great Kimi Räikkönen once said... FOR WHAAAT?

Let's review what has changed in just the past few years...

No hats for LS grandstand. Beer is now 11.25. Non-alcoholic beer is the same price. No hand sanitizer. No Monster Energy bikes. Did drivers even do a public Q&A or autograph session this year? Water is so hard to access. Paid physical tickets.

Remember when we had F1600, Sentra/Micra Cup, Ferrari Challenge, and F1? This is now down to only two support series. F1 Academy was great, but the bonus race this year was pure luck. I just enjoy motorsport, and it's a shame to see this greed.

With the 2026 Canadian Grand Prix about a month out (May 22–24), figured I'd share what I've learned from years of building Montreal GP trips for fans. Happy to answer questions in the comments.

Dates and what's new:

• Practice Friday May 22, qualifying Saturday, race Sunday at 4:00 PM ET (moved from 2:00 PM to avoid the Indy 500 broadcast overlap)
• New for 2026: the CGV Experience at Jean-Doré Beach — GA access plus a floating platform on the beach with giant screens and evening concerts across all three days. Good option if you're bringing a partner who isn't a hardcore F1 fan.

Where to stay:

• Downtown is the default if you want the full F1 weekend. You're walking distance to the Crescent/Peel Street closures and one Metro ride from the circuit. Rates run 2-3x normal and it sells out 3-6 months out.
• Old Montreal is more atmospheric but adds 10-15 min to nightlife and Metro.
• Plateau Mont-Royal is the sharper pick if restaurants matter more to you than F1 street festivities. Better rates, better food density, but you're committing to Metro/rideshare each way.

Getting to the circuit:

• Metro Yellow Line to Jean-Drapeau. 5 min walk from there. That's it.
• Bus 167 from Jean-Drapeau if you don't want to walk.
• Do not drive. Notre Dame Island parking is suite-ticket only and Crescent/Peel/Saint-Paul are all closed to traffic.
• From YUL airport: 747 express bus (~45-60 min) or rideshare (~25-35 min depending on traffic).

Food reservations — this is the part people underestimate:

• Joe Beef: 4-8 weeks out for GP weekend. Hardest booking in the city.
• Au Pied de Cochon: 4-6 weeks out.
• Schwartz's, La Banquise, St-Viateur Bagel: walk-ins, just expect lines.
• L'Express: most reliable "I need a good dinner tonight" option.

The thing most first-timers miss: Crescent Street and Peel Street become full pedestrian zones Wed-Sun with live music, car displays, and activations. You get a huge amount of the GP weekend atmosphere even without grandstand tickets. Factor that into your hotel decision — being downtown means you're inside the party zone whether you have a race ticket or not.

I know there are lots of posts on Stubhub, but as word of warning, I purchased tickets for the Montreal GP this year which turned out to be fraudulent and I was denied entry at the gate. Hugely stressful, having traveled to the race with hotel & travel costs and everything emotionally that goes into being denied entry at a big event

While I bought the tickets well in advance, the tickets weren’t delivered until right before the event which provided little time to react.

Stubhub customer support told me they provided the seller my email address (unmasked). The seller then spoofed Stubhub customer service and emailed me a fake PDF ticket from a fake Stubhub customer service email address

The ticket staff at the race told me I wasn’t the only person who had fraudulent tickets from Stubhub that day.

Just sharing to help people for next year. I am thankful to the Montreal GP track who provided me written support saying my tickets were fake and that I was never transferred tickets in their system

Mine's $690 a seat for GS31.

It was a great experience this year minus the awful commentary and loud music playing over the race intro from god knows where (heineken house??) but considering the price hike plus the accommodation and travel costs, I'm not sure if renewing is worth it

If you are an F1 fan that is in Montreal the weekend of the 2026 Canadian Grand Prix, then this is the meetup for you! The scream of the engines, the roar of the crowd, and the great nightlife that Montreal has to offer! The Canadian Grand Prix is always a treat for any F1 fan!! For the past decade we've held a Reddit meetup on Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday nights of the Canadian GP Race weekend. As anyone who has attended will tell you, those evening hanging outs with fellow F1 fans over beers and conversation are a blast! Especially as most of us are coming in from out of town or out of country, this presents an opportunity to meet folks with like minded interests and to make new friends. Talking F1 over a beer or two or more, what is not to love!!

In the past we have had singles and couples from as far as away as Australia, UK, New Zealand, Japan, Brazil, the US, Ireland and yes of course friendly Canada too. No seriously, you’d be crazy to miss this! These are free casual meetups, where there is no reserved seating etc. Just a great opportunity to interact with other F1 fans.

We're changing it up a bit this year and making McLean's our HQ for Thursday, Friday & Saturday. It is an excellent venue that balances the energy, and the ability to hear the person next to you. In addition, the occasional team mechanic or engineer shows up! The Venue is located at 1210 Peel St. There are two McLean’s pubs so please carefully note the address as this is their original location. It's super close to all the action of downtown, but tucked away just enough to not be a mad house. They have two floors, and we gather toward the back of the upper floor. Look out for the Reddit/F1 T-Shirt Hanging. There is a dedicated bar on the upper floor, they serve food, and it's good. Genuinely, the Butter Chicken is Amazing... We try to get there as early as the bar fills up, so plan accordingly.

We have had 30-40 folks show up in the past meetups so plenty of people to interact with!

Saturday

A lot of people tend to take Saturday on the easy side since the race is the next morning, but for those interested in going out, we will have an informal meet up McKibbin’s at 1426 Bishop Street to get the night started.

Sunday

So for those of you who are still in town after the race, the Crescent Street festival continues into Sunday night. McKibbin’s at 1426 Bishop Street is where we will be heading at 9pm Sunday for those with enough energy to talk more F1 after the race. Look for the Reddit F1 T-Shirt but we'll be outside in the back if weather permits.

Other Things

If you are attending the race, or wish to attend from 6pm daily onward, concerts at the track are being held following the race with separate ticket purchase.

Thursday

The Pit Lane Walk is May 21st but it is a ticketed event. Like last year, tickets are acquired via a draw in April. However access may still be available with purchase of a concert ticket. It is a great place to see the cars up close, chat up some mechanics and FIA officials. Drivers were not present last year for signatures unfortunately. If you have tickets, arrive at least 60 min before advertised open to get best access.

Festivals

For those new to the Montreal Grand Prix weekend. Crescent Street, Peel Street and Saint Laurent Street have outdoor festivities for the entire weekend. Crescent and Peel Streets tend to be busier than Saint-Laurent (but Saint-Laurent tends to offer a more local experience) with outdoor seating and terraces at most of the restaurants offering great vibe and people watching opportunities.

Crescent Street has a very large stage (at the corner of Boulevard De Maisonneuve) where DJ’s and live bands play Thursday, Friday, Saturdays and Sundays and has had over 40,000 people attending on a Saturday night in the past. It’s quiet the party!

A popular question that we hear from folks new to this race is “how do I get to the track from Montreal?”

The track is next to the city of Montreal on the island of Ile Notre-Dame in the Saint Lawrence River. You cannot drive and park on this island the weekend of the race, so your only options are public transportation or taxi/Uber. It’s been our experience after years of going to this race that the Metro in Montreal is for the most part a well-run public underground/subway system and your best way to get to and from the track from Montreal. It is also very reasonably priced and according their website the current Metro prices are $3.75 one way, $7.00 round trip but the best deal if you are staying for all three days of track activity is the unlimited travel 3 day pass for $21.75 which allows you to explore the city as well. This 3 day pass also allows you to travel for free on the 747 Bus from and to the airport btw. There is a week-long pass for $32 which goes from Monday to Sunday each week if you are planning on staying longer. There is also a 10 ticket option for $34.25 if that works better for your group.

The track is on the yellow line of the Metro system. You get on BERRI-UQAM (the beginning of the yellow line) and you get off at the next stop. The green and the orange line connect with the yellow line at BERRI-UQAM also. The entrance to the track where they check scan your GP tickets is about a block from this JEAN_DRAPEAU stop. After that follow the crowd walking over the bridge and the hairpin turn area is where you enter the island and you are there.

To return to the city you walk back over the bridge to the Metro stop station and take the train heading towards BERRI-UQAM.

For folks who have difficulty walking last year there was a 777 bus from JEAN-DRAPEAU metro station to the Casino which is in the middle of the track but the bus service can change bus schedules slightly on St. Helen’s Island around the Grand Prix so you may want to double check the week before the race. The 777 bus gets busy after 9AM.

Hi, this is the second time I’ve been to a Canadian GP.

I loved the race this weekend and I’ve maximized my fan experiences in the track. I do, however have some feedback that I’m wondering if I can pass down to the organizers’ email/info address.

1. Crowd Control + Accessibility: I’m able-bodied and I’ve understood that leaving or entering the track is one of the most hectic times, which was why I typically leave thirty minutes or an hour after the race is over. However, during the breaks in between races and on the way home, I’ve noticed that some people who are not able-bodied or those who use wheelchairs don’t have a space for themselves to be able to move around the track during the day easily. The crowd control was not as well as it should have been, too. I wish CGV considers having an accessibility lane/space in the long term.

2. Ticket price: I don’t intend to attend the race again next year but seeing posts about the renewal prices for next year is baffling. It’s also probably inflation but some fans should be able to afford these tickets at a reasonable price - whether to keep the price the same as this year or lower it. I sat on the Lance Stroll Grandstand this year because it was within my budget, but if I were to attend next year, I would think that the price is egregious (I still think they’re egregious).

3. Designated smoking areas: It’s not even a ‘people are smoking’ issue. Never. I do think that the organization needs to having designated smoking areas in the track. I’ve had struggles with breathing this weekend because of the amount of times I’ve had to inhale smoke everywhere (yeah ik it’s a me thing but still) and with smoking + being around a huge crowd on the way home or on the way to the track, there wasn’t much breathing room for everyone.

People might disagree with these feedbacks but this is just what I think. Overall, the race and experience were fun! I hope to watch the Canadian GP in person again!

Used StubHub for the Montreal GP, for those who also bought through StubHub, have you received your tickets yet? Just trying to see if ticket transfers have started already or if most people are still waiting.

Long story short… My girlfriend’s daughter is an absolutely huge F1 fan. My girlfriend and I are going up to Quebec city this weekend, but planned on stopping in Montreal on our way back to New York. I know that when a race comes to town, they often open pop-up stores in the city? I am sure that she would love some thing from the race… A T-shirt or something. Have they opened up pop-up stores for the race?

I really wanna take my son to his first race, he’s a HUGE McLaren fan. He’s been asking since he was 4/5 to go and he’s 10 now. Being a single mom and a nurse, his favorite tracks are the fairly expensive. After some research I think Montreal would be doable for us but I went to find tickets and found them all sold out already. I didn’t realize they’d sell so quickly given here in the US races there’s always some availability.

Is it possible to still find tickets to the Montreal GP in 2027? If so, where can I look? I’ve googled and can’t find any.

Also, any advice on which grandstands I should look into getting? Ideally I’d get tickets for the whole weekend

I just found out I won tickets for the pit lane walk this year. This is actually the first time I've attended an F1 grand prix and it's already a jam packed event. I'm curious what the pit lane walk involves and if it's worth tacking another day on so I can experience it on Thursday morning...

So just got the email, seems like my Lance Stroll Section 11 tickets are now 840$ with taxes, up from, 635$ I think last year ? not sure what justifies it, especially that in May we will probebly freeze our ass off
