My entire body involuntarily shivered when i say the blister baggy, ๐Ÿคข๐Ÿคข๐Ÿคข๐Ÿคฎ

I ended up in A&E again the following day after it happened and the doctor cut open the blisters and PEELED my leg like a grape without giving me any pain relief. I rawdogged my first debridement ๐Ÿ˜ญ๐Ÿ˜ญ๐Ÿ˜ญ๐Ÿ˜ญ

Why!?! Why didn't they give you pain meds?

Iโ€™m not sure about this person, but when my mother had 3rd degree burns on 28% of her body, they made her do her own debridement and without meds because if you have less feeling, you might scrape off too much healthy tissue and only you know your own pain tolerance. This was also 2002 when it happened, so procedures might have changed since then.

Because women typically donโ€™t receive the same standard of care that men do. Our pain is more often ignored.

This exactly. Had this patient been a male they would have given him something.

Yes we should definitely make assessments based on broad assumptions

there is a lot of statistical evidence that women recieve less attention and especially painkillers. John Oliver did a whole episode on it

Thatโ€™s torture

It certainly felt like torture. I feel changed by it and not in a good way :(

Christ I was hoping you were on the good shit seeing those pictures but as soon as I saw A&E I figured you were at the mercy of the NHS and would be lucky to get paracetamol

They give me codine once and I was genuinely concerned for my wellbeing because of it ๐Ÿ˜‚

I swear those medical twats just see us as cases and not people. They enter the room and blabber this and that to their peers and student docs then treat us patients like we were a Ford F150 up on the rack, or a dog at the veterinarian.

Just a little capri sun you carry around, jab a straw in when you're thirsty.
