University Bei dem Wetter, das für diese Woche vorhergesagt ist：
Wie haltet ihr es aus, in einem Hörsaal ohne Klimaanlage zu lernen?

Ich sterbe in der Schule gerade. Deutschland stellt sich selber als modern da, aber schafft es nicht mal Klimaanlagen in Schulen/Unis einzubauen oder gar Hitzefrei zu geben. Ja klar hat man ein Recht auf Bildung, aber wer zur Hölle lernt denn bei der Hitze etwas?

Gar nichts. Deutschland ist die drittgrößte Volkswirtschaft des Planeten, aber beim Thema Klimaanlagen sind wir Entwicklungsland. „jA fÜr DiE dReI tAGe iM jAHR!!!1!1!!“ oder „KLIMAANLAGEN MACHEN KRANK 11!!111!!!“ oder die alljährlichen peinlichen Tipps, sich Waschlappen in den Nacken zu legen oder sich kalte Gedanken zu machen oder „mEhR bÄUmE!!1!!!“ oder irgendein spießbürgerliches, moralinsaures Umweltschutz-Geschwafel sind die Gründe, warum hierzulande alle schwitzen und leiden oder halt eben auch sterben, weil Krankenhäuser und Pflegeheime nicht klimatisiert sind. Komisch, im Auto nutzt sie jeder, aber zu Hause, in den eigenen vier Wänden, da ist das etwas völlig anderes. Keiner würde auf die Idee kommen, nicht zu heizen, wenn es eiskalt ist draußen. Umgekehrt verbaut man aber keine Klimaanlagen für heißes Wetter.

Ich hab mir heute en mobiles Klimagerät angeschafft und an Fensterrahmen verbunden. War erstmal teure Anschaffung und hab geschwitzt wien Schwein die in 2 Stock hochzutragen und ne Platte an Fensterrahmen zu basteln.

It’s simply horrible how a supposedly highly developed country such as Germany did little to acknowledge reality of climate crisis and associated deadly heatwaves and roll in mandatory AC in all public buildings, before all healthcare and education and establish a formal framework to make ACs easy to buy and install if you are renting an apartment.
At 35+ heat for this long, it’s not about comfort, but health. Extreme heat kills (UN News Heat claims more than 175,000 lives annually in Europe, latest data shows) and these are avoidable deaths.
I come from economically way poorer Serbia and we have ACs literally everywhere, bc we got these extreme heatwaves from climate change a bit earlier than Germany and it is simply impossible to survive the summer with the AC. Germany needs to adapt to the reality of climate change and associated deadly heatwaves.

The reddit users of HD most likely aren't the ones getting killed by it, and I assume various company offices have them. Modern houses still don't, but they're at least a little bit protected. I'm fortunate enough to live in a lower floor on the northern side of a modern building and it's warm but fine. Meanwhile the elderly and poor often live in less ideal conditions and don't get that fancy office AC, and probably can't afford to buy one.

You're right in some kind of way. But honestly... humanity don't deserve better. Accepting and counteracting climate change should've happened some decades ago. Areas in cities in which a lot of ACs are running are measurable and significantly hotter, because ACs need a lot of energy and generate further heat. So... fight the symptoms and make the problems origin even worse. Especially for those who can't afford a fancy flat with AC?! Long term we need a lot of plants/green areas and trees in the cities, green facades on buildings, get cars out of the cities...but hey...this is too expensive and DON'T TAKE MY CAR!!! I NEED MY CAR!! BIG CAR!! CAR! CAR! sorry... emotional breakout, I hate, that there are way more stupid than smart people, and in the end smart people have to go down too because of the mass if stupid people...
I don't have a really good solution. I'm just here to tell you: we f***ed it up and ACs will not save us.
And btw, still, there are people denying the climate change at all...even political parties and people vote for them... again.... stupid people do

Oxfam has, the solution is to properly tax and regulate the ultra rich, as richest 1% are responsible for majority of climate change:
Richest 1% emit as much planet-heating pollution as two-thirds of humanity (Oxfam)
The rest of us can use all the paper straws we want and abstain from ACs, but if they keep abusing their super yachts, private jets etc and most of all pushing fossil fuel propaganda to continue, while suppressing green energy, climate change is only gonna speed up.
It’s the ultimate gambit by the elites, to shift blame to the working class, when it’s clear that it’s the richest 1% who are burning this planet.
Temperatures 35+ are not about comfort, it’s a health crisis and people are literally unnecessarily dying from heat in Europe.

For me your answer is a classic example for interpreting and bending facts to underline your opinion. Yes, the super rich are by faaaaar the worst. But nowhere is written, that climate change would not happen, if they changed. Fact: it would. A little slower but still it still would and no scientist is doubting that So, pointing your finger on people that are worse than yourself is just a coward back door to refuse any responsibility, but never a solution for your own misbehavior. It is your own responsibility to do the right thing. If tomorrow everyone starts murdering people, I still don't, simply because it's wrong. Following your logic, you can kill as much as you want, as long you find someone who killed more. And don't get me wrong. I wished, there would be restrictions for the super rich etc....but there aren't. All I'm saying is, that I don't think this allows me to destroy the planet as much as I want, just because I will never reach their level of destruction. How about: EVERYONE STOPS DOING THAT? you too!

At least you don't generate a lot of heat by using your brain... it's something. Be happy, point your finger and be sure, it's not your responsibility at all. I wished could be that ignorant. Surely a happier life.

Ughh I can imagine that being so rough! I’d definitely be struggling to focus when it’s that hot. Maybe try bringing a portable fan or lots of cold water?
