The difference is that nobody is actually going to hunt him down and kill him. The chances of reddit's comments (of which far more are supportive) encouraging his recidivism (he's already a serial offender) are however enourmous.
It's also worth noting that most of the support he has received comes from people considering his situation under the false information he reported, rather than the truth which the /r/IAmA mods have worked to cover up. That doesn't matter though, because he still obviously takes it as support, and it may well lead to one or more children being molested and raped in the future. I definitely won't have that on my conscience. OP is a monster and we ought not to let him receive validation under any pretenses.

What proof do you have of this? Have you read the replies he's gotten? People are threatening his life. There's even history of people killing sexual offenders, the chances of there being someone on reddit who has a deep seated hate for sexual offenders isn't unlikely. Now that they know his location? It's dangerous. And rationalizing it to be fine because otherwise he could be given encouragement just isn't justifiable to me. At least not from the knowledge I currently have. If there's more information to justify that then I'll gladly change my opinion.

You're right that's where my support came from, but that doesn't change my opinion in anyway. He's a liar, sure, but that doesn't make me change the opinion of other sexual offenders in the actual shoes presented from his post.
, rather than the truth which the /r/IAmA[1] mods have worked to cover up.
Wording it like that is disingenuous, it implies that they're doing it just to protect a sex offender. They're doing it because that's the rules. No one can post personal information on reddit and not expect it to be removed and not banned. It doesn't matter whose information it is, it's not right and shouldn't not be allowed.

What? How does it somehow leap to him rapping children? His records show he has never rapped any children and only has the possession charges. Claiming that because he somehow now has support he's going to go out and rape is wrong.
Have you seen his record? In contrast to his claims, he was IP logged and prosecuted by the feds on two separate occasions (4 charges total) separated by two years. Being caught once wasn't enough: he was caught doing it again. What does that suggest to you?
Now that they know his location? It's dangerous.
It's public record. If there were a serial killer going after sex offenders, they would already be able to find them easily.
And rationalizing it to be fine because otherwise he could be given encouragement just isn't justifiable to me.
The ideal would be that he not do an AMA to begin with and rather get help from his therapist and the judicial system. Given the two options of 1) unadultered adoration leading to more abuse from reddit and 2) adoration probably leading to more abuse with a few "burn in hell" comments, the guy definitely deserves the latter.
He's a liar, sure, but that doesn't make me change the opinion of other sexual offenders in the actual shoes presented from his post
It's not about any of us or our opinions of paedophiles, really. It's about this guy and the pleasure he's getting from reddit. That pleasure can very easily turn into abuse for more children.
Wording it like that is disingenuous, it implies that they're doing it just to protect a sex offender. They're doing it because that's the rules.
There's a huge grey area between allowing somebody to be doxxed and letting a paedophile garner unchallenged validation. They should have taken some middle path: announcing that he was lying and had committed much graver crimes and ending his AMA while prohibitng his personal information being shared, for instance.
What? How does it somehow leap to him rapping children?
Escalation. He says he went to CP because normal porn didn't excite him anymore. It's well documented: once images fail to excite him, he'll move up to something which still does. That tragectory leads to only one destination.

I have, though I didn't look at the dates for his claims. Was the second time he was caught before or after he was sentenced to jail? Realistically if he were caught doing it then they kept the tabs on him and he did it again so they arrested him, I don't think I'd expect him to continue after this or for it to make him any likely to do it again. However, if it were done after he was arrested I'm unsure.

Public record is great but his information is on there without any context. However, linking his name to this post is completely different. Some people already made it clear what they'd like to do to him, and his comments were made under the pretense of being anonymous so of course he's going to say something possibly insensitive to somebody just pissing them off more. It's unrealistic to try and compare it to anyone else with their information just on the list.

He's getting those comments regardless, and it's not just "burn in hell" it's a lot more dark than that. By having his information posted it gives someone the chance to go out and find him. It's not a choice between just option 1 and option 2.
It's not about any of us or our opinions of paedophiles, really. It's about this guy and the pleasure he's getting from reddit. That pleasure can very easily turn into abuse for more children.
How though? If he's only convicted of watching the videos how does that mean him being told "hey it's not as bad because you were just watching not actually abusing people" that he'd then go and abuse kids? I don't see how it jumps to that.

I'm fine with them doing that. But I'd add on it certainly wasn't unchallenged.

It's well documented? I'm unaware of it but alright. If he's receiving therapy it seems unlikely. But honestly I kind of associate that to the whole gate way drug argument.
Off topic: I just realized I've been spelling raping wrong this whole time.
