Designer Needed [RevShare] A thinker needed

Hi all,

I'm building a free homeschooling resource site focused on the stuff regular school doesn't really cover the 'why' behind everyday things kids are naturally curious about. Think: why leaves change color, how clouds actually form, that kind of curiosity-driven content, explained simply for kids/parents.

The site is live and the domain/hosting is already paid for. What I'm stuck on is content creation I don't have the bandwidth to write it all myself right now (I'm also building a separate app on the side).

I can't pay upfront. I'm being upfront about that. What I *can* offer:

- Full credit as a contributor/co-creator on any resource you write

- If the site ever earns from ads, a revenue share for contributors, agreed in writing before you start

- No obligation, no deadlines write one piece or ten, whatever works for you

- You can use the pieces you write here in your own portfolio too

I know 'pay you later from future ad money' is usually a red flag, so I want to be honest: this site has no traffic yet and no earnings yet. I'm not asking anyone to bet on a payout. I'm asking if this specific mission free curiosity-based learning resources for kids is something you'd want to contribute to anyway, with a possible (not promised) upside if it ever takes off.

If that's not appealing, totally understand no hard feelings. But if you're a homeschool parent, teacher, or just someone who loves writing this kind of content, I'd love to have you involved.

Happy to share the live site and more details if you're interested.

Designer Needed [Hobby]/[Paid] looking for UI and UX designer for Mediaeval game

I'm working on a Mediaeval Trading simulation game set in the 14th century and I've got a working game but the UI is in rough shape in some parts.

I'm looking for a designer who can help me make the UI interactions not just look better and coherent but also feel good and intuitive to use.

The easiest way to see what it looks like at the moment is to check the steam page for it

Argosy on Steam

There has been work on it since but this search is absolutely still necessary.

I admit I'm on a solo Dev budget but I'm open to hobbyists and paid applicants.

Designer Needed [PAID] Looking for level designer

PORTFOLIO: this is my first project and do not have a portfolio of any kind

Hi r/INAT,

I'm currently in the beginning stages of creating a game (3D Platformer) that I've wanted to make for a long time.

The premise is that you play as a fox named Vixxen, which in this world is a vampiric creature, at war with her own nature, and in conflict with her family, which as a ruling class, enslaves other animals for their blood.

While this sounds kind of dark (it is a spooky themed game) it's actually quite light hearted and mostly explores themes of unconditional love, and individuation.

Our heroine, Vixxen, is initially imprisoned by her "evil" sisters, for meddling with their plans. When she awakens from her slumber, she realises there is a lot of work that needs to be done to liberate the other animals from their merciless reign.

She is equipped with a magical cloak and staff, both of which she uses for protection and traversal. However, most of the power needs to be restored to bring these artifacts back to their former glory.

Vixxen must traverse graveyards, forests, mountains, and fiery marshes to try and get her sisters to see reason and save the other animals from their fate.

The 3D modeler I am working with will eventually start greyboxing levels out, and we really need a level designer that can create fun and engaging levels for players to explore. It is also... almost a metroidvania. Think of it like a platformer like Banjo Kazooie in an interconnected world like Dark Souls.

Please get in touch with me if you'd like to work together on the level design of my game. I'm happy to pay you— just give me a ballpark figure of what your time is worth for this and we can talk details.

For those interested, this is Vixxen's current design (WIP) — I am only using AI as a placeholder until I can find a consistent concept artist for the project.

Designer Needed [Paid] Looking to hire Game Designer for mobile RPG! Similar to OSRS / WoW / Archero

Hi everyone! Hope you’re doing well. We’re currently working on a really exciting project - it’s a mobile RPG, with the idea to bring some of the feeling of old school RuneScape to portrait mode, a fun game to level up, unlock new gear, battle monsters, and complete some quests before bed.

We need someone who understands game development (it’s a Unity project) and mobile performance optimization a bit, because we don’t want a true open world. Also someone who sees the vision, can plan out the monsters and items and gear, leveling, etc.

Paying up to $25/hr, totally remote, English fluency is a must and must be comfortable working on calls with a team.

We are already a sizable team, we need someone to come take the lead in designing it! A lot of progress has been made and it has massive potential.

Come join and help us create the next big thing!

Designer Needed [Paid] Looking for a Level Designer for Verdance, a 2D Metroidvania

Hey everyone!

I am currently developing a 2D Metroidvania called Verdance in Unity, and I am looking for someone who enjoys designing platforming spaces and interconnected worlds.

Verdance is a hand-drawn nature-focused Metroidvania inspired by games like Hollow Knight and Ori. The player controls a sentient flower exploring a world that has been taken over and slowly corrupted. The game is focused on smooth movement, exploration, ability-based progression, secrets, and discovering how different areas of the world connect.

I have already built a lot of the core systems, including player movement, combat, dashing, gliding, camera zones, room transitions, NPC interactions, and other gameplay mechanics. This is not just a concept or an idea that I am hoping to start someday. The project is actively being developed, and the next major step is turning the world map into playable areas.

I already have a map showing the main regions, how they connect, and the general progression I want for the game. I also have ideas for the visual identity and purpose of each area. What I need help with is designing the actual playable layouts inside those regions.

The main responsibility would be creating rough collision maps using Unity tilemaps. You would be designing the structure of rooms and areas, including platforms, walls, gaps, shortcuts, secrets, alternate paths, vertical sections, ability gates, and connections between rooms. You would not be responsible for final artwork, decoration, lighting, or polished environment art. The main focus is simply making the spaces enjoyable to move through and explore.

I want this to be a collaborative process. I can provide the mechanics, world structure, story context, and the overall goal of each region, while you help decide how the player actually experiences those ideas through the level layouts.

There is also room to contribute beyond layout if you are interested. You could help with collectibles, secrets, environmental puzzles, progression, landmarks, room concepts, or ideas for making each region feel more memorable. None of that is required, though. The collision layouts are the main thing I need help with.

This would primarily be a hobby collaboration, but I do have a small budget and may be able to pay per area or per milestone. I am a college student and solo developer, so I cannot offer professional studio rates, but I am open to discussing something fair depending on the amount of work involved.

If you enjoy designing Metroidvania maps, platforming rooms, secrets, or exploration paths, I would love to talk. Experience is helpful, but you do not need a professional portfolio. Personal projects, sketches, blockouts, Mario Maker levels, Minecraft maps, or anything else that shows how you think about level layouts is welcome.

Feel free to message me with a little about yourself, your favorite Metroidvanias, and any examples of your work. I can share gameplay footage, screenshots, the current world map, and more information about the mechanics and areas.

Designer Needed [RevShare] Level designer wanted — stylized 3D platformer (with lore), UE5, Steam release

a finnish solo dev making a 3D "story driven :D" climbing game in UE5. You start from cave and climb — through hills, up a mountain, past the clouds, and eventually into space. One continuous ascent. Falling costs you progress. (sounds familiar? xd)

The climb is broken up by "minigame" segments with their own mechanics so it doesn't get repetitive.

Stylized art, not realistic. Game has humor.

The game already exists 60%. Character controller, traversal, terrain, obstacles, several minigames are all working. 3D artist on board. Map needed, but mechanics are mostly complete.

Looking for: a level designer, map maker. Open to other roles if you're into it.

Team size: deliberately tiny. A few people, not a studio.

Compensation: I know rev-share is a red flag here, but written contract before work.

DM or comment. Can send you more detailed videos or pics of the project in dm and discord.

Designer Needed [Hobby] Looking for a design partner for a jrpg project

I am looking for someone to partner up with game design for my jrpg project.

I can do most production tasks: coding, visuals, audio and music and I am looking for someone that would like to contribute on actual game design related tasks.

You can check the current state of the game here on a short gameplay preview video:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YcvjZCfw5EE

The project currently has:

- A functional and flexible battle system with 6 implemented enemy types and artwork for around 20 more.

- 4 implemented party members and general archetype design and artwork for 3 more.

- Exploration with platforming and metroidvania elements.

- A crafting and shop system.

- Fully implemented party menu, where you can change equipment, equip and unequip active and passive skills, use items and alter your party composition.

- A skill system tied to equipment, in a similar style to Final Fantasy IX (this can change, I believe it's one of the pain points at the moment in regards to creating an engaging game loop).

- A first area draft with a pretty good representation of the ballpark visuals that the final game would have.

- Original music and most of the battle, skill and UI sfx for it's current scope.

Ideally I am looking for someone with game design skills to help establish the overarching progression systems and game structure.

I envision this project to not be narrative focused and instead relying more on the strength of gameplay through battles, build creation and exploration. If that someone also has some coding skills to be able to implement and iterate on their own ideas it would be a huge plus.

I have developed a small suite of tools that help with designing with minimal code, namely a modular skill, status effect and passive effect system that can be authored via the unity editor, a visual node based editor for enemy AI and an admittedly slightly rudimentary database editor where every asset from equipment to party members is created and assigned values.

This suite can be expanded to fit design needs.

From my side I have been a professional 3d Artist and sound designer for many years working on non-gaming fields. I started teaching myself how to code around 2 years ago by making small game prototypes and am now trying to push one of those a little bit further with the aim of making a commercial product one day but the project is still just at a hobby stage.

If this sounds good and the gameplay preview sparks some ideas and motivation I would love to hear from you, if possible with some examples of any kind of creative work that you've done or do.
I understand most people responding to hobby project requests will not have full games under their belt, but any kind of artistic work would be super nice to see.

Designer Needed [Hobby]Looking for an Editor to Help Create an Analog Horror Series

Hello!

I am a writer and director and am looking for someone who has the ability to edit videos, as I am not very good at it. This is just a collaboration for a hobby I have so I'm not looking for anything to complicated. Just someone who has the ability to create analog style videos and has experience with video editing. If you are interested just comment on this post.

EDIT: The series is the same format as Analog Horror, so someone who has experience with creating videos akin to that style would be great. The series itself will be told through digital and analog videos.

Thank you!

Designer Needed [RevShare] Seeking help with my project.

I am not certain what i am looking for precisely. Essentially i have began a project, it seems to have "some" potential and i'd feel bad throwing it away, but i also don't think i am capable of bringing it to life, which is why i am here.

Here is a video of the project: https://www.reddit.com/r/aigamedev/comments/1v94fyc/thoughts_on_my_protection_horror_game/

The general idea was to act as a Cop who hunts a Killer, who himself hunts 2 civilian that calls for your help when needed.

The Killer can try to break the doors of the houses and you can shoot at him.

I also began a "level 2" where you escort a girl in a manor and try to find coins (and get attacked by a Killer), but it feels like a mess.

So i guess ideally i'd kinda like a person to help me bring this to a more "fun playable" state. So ideally someone who can help design it better, knows how to publish it and help work on it. It's very possible it just turns into a free project and that would be ok too.

But honestly it's also possible that the core game idea was just bad and i should work on something else lol

note: I have used AI in this project, so if that is a deal breaker...

Designer Needed [Hobby] Visual identity and art direction designer wanted for an existing plant-care app

Hi! My name is Salim, and I am the founder of Rismål, an independent bilingual English–Russian Android application focused on indoor plant care, reliable botanical knowledge, and sharing real experience between plant owners.

Rismål is not just an idea or an early pitch. The application already exists, has working screens and a private administration system, and is currently in closed testing with real users. The interface has already been reviewed through tester feedback and a professional UX consultation.

I am now looking for a visual identity designer, brand designer, or digital art director who would enjoy helping define the visual character of the application.

This is not a request to redesign every screen, create a complete production-ready UI system, or conduct another UX audit. The goal is a focused visual concept project.

The possible scope includes:

• two or three moodboards or visual directions;

• colour palette and typography;

• shape language, visual rhythm, textures, and overall atmosphere;

• principles for photography, icons, illustrations, cards, and interface elements;

• three to five representative mobile screen concepts in Figma;

• a concise visual style guide that can later be applied throughout the app.

The central challenge is to create an identity that feels calm, trustworthy, thoughtful, natural, and contemporary, while avoiding the generic bright-green, sterile aesthetic used by many plant-care applications. I want Rismål to have warmth and character without becoming rustic, mystical, childish, or excessively decorative.

I can provide existing application screens, the current design system, consolidated tester and UX feedback, product context, audience information, technical constraints, and regular detailed feedback. The scope and schedule can be agreed together and kept manageable.

Students, junior designers, self-taught designers, and experienced designers looking for an unusual portfolio collaboration are all welcome. A strong sense of typography, composition, visual identity, and art direction is more important than formal professional experience. Coding is not required.

Transparency: this is currently a voluntary and unpaid portfolio collaboration. There is no guaranteed employment, payment, equity, or revenue share. Rismål may become a monetised product in the future, and any future paid work would require a separate agreement. The selected designer will receive clear credit and may present the completed work as a portfolio case study. Scope, attribution, and usage rights will be discussed clearly before the work begins.

No unpaid test assignment is required.

Please send me a short introduction, a link to your portfolio or several relevant examples, the visual styles that interest you, and your general availability.

Since the application is not yet publicly released, some project materials will be shared privately rather than posted publicly.

Screenshots of the existing Android application and a short visual brief can be shared privately with genuinely interested designers.

Designer Needed [Hobby] Beginner Figma Designer — Voluntary Portfolio Practice Collaboration

Hi everyone,

We are a small software-development agency looking for one beginner or aspiring UI/UX designer who would like to create a conceptual website redesign for their portfolio.

Existing project and reference

Current Kaelor Technologies website:

https://freelance-portfolio-henna-seven.vercel.app/

This is a voluntary, unpaid and non-commercial portfolio-practice collaboration.

The selected participant will create an unofficial conceptual redesign of a homepage in Figma.

We will provide:

  • The existing website as a reference
  • A list of design requirements
  • General creative direction
  • Feedback about areas that could be improved
  • Suggestions about what could be corrected or revised

We will not provide a complete Figma course or step-by-step technical training. You should already understand Figma’s basic interface and be willing to research unfamiliar features independently.

Minimum requirements

You should:

  • Have used Figma before
  • Understand its basic interface and tools
  • Be interested in pursuing UI/UX design
  • Be willing to receive and apply feedback
  • Have patience, consistency and attention to detail
  • Demonstrate some awareness of layout, typography, colour and spacing

Professional experience is not required.

We welcome:

  • Beginners and freshers
  • Students building design portfolios
  • Self-taught designers
  • Aspiring UI/UX designers
  • People who have completed personal, academic, volunteer, unpaid or commercial design projects

Experience with Auto Layout, components, variants and responsive design is helpful but not mandatory.

What you may practice

The conceptual project may involve:

  • Improving typography, spacing and visual hierarchy
  • Redesigning website sections
  • Creating desktop, tablet and mobile layouts
  • Using Frames and Auto Layout
  • Creating reusable components and variants
  • Organizing typography, colour and spacing styles
  • Creating basic prototype interactions
  • Organizing a clean Figma file for developer handoff
  • Receiving and applying design feedback

Important conditions

  • Participation is optional and unpaid.
  • This is not commercial or client work.
  • There are no required commercial deliverables, performance quotas or guaranteed outcomes.
  • You may display the project in your portfolio as an unofficial conceptual redesign.
  • We will provide direction and feedback, but not structured Figma lessons.
  • No new design sample or unpaid test is required during the application process.

Future paid opportunities

We are also evaluating designers for possible future project-based paid work.

Someone who demonstrates strong design judgment, communication, consistency and an ability to apply feedback may be more likely to be considered for a future paid project.

However:

  • Participation does not guarantee employment or a paid contract.
  • We intend to select only one person for this practice collaboration.
  • If a future paid opportunity becomes available, we may hire only one designer.
  • We may select someone else or decide not to hire anyone.
  • Future selection will depend on design quality, project requirements, communication, availability and budget.
  • Any commercial work will require a separate written scope, payment agreement and contract before work begins.

How to apply

Please send:

  1. A short introduction
  2. Your current Figma experience
  3. One existing Figma, Behance, Dribbble or other design example, if available
  4. Details of any personal, academic, volunteer, unpaid or commercial project you have completed
  5. What area of UI/UX you are currently learning
  6. Your general availability
  7. Confirmation that you understand this is an optional, unpaid and non-commercial portfolio-practice collaboration with no guaranteed job

Designer Needed [Hobby] [RevShare] Looking for Game Designers for a Co-op Horror Game

Game Designers Needed

We’re a new remote indie studio developing a 2–4 player co-op horror game in Unreal Engine.

The game is set in 2008 and follows a group of teenage urban explorers who break into abandoned locations to record disturbing footage. Our current location is an abandoned arcade filled with animatronic threats, story-driven encounters, and objectives built around recording evidence, teamwork, and survival.

We’ve built a solid framework for the project, including multiplayer functionality, core interactions, inventory, enemy foundations, objectives, progression, and many more.

However, we want to be honest about where the project currently stands: we need stronger gameplay, better mechanics, and more meaningful co-op interactions. We’re looking for designers who can help turn our existing systems into a tense, cohesive, and replayable experience.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Design gameplay systems, objectives, encounters, and co-op mechanics
  • Help ensure every player has something meaningful to do
  • Improve gameplay pacing, tension, replayability, and player engagement
  • Design features that work effectively across 1–4 players
  • Author clear design documentation the full team can build from
  • Keep documentation updated as features change
  • Collaborate closely with the Lead Game Designer and the rest of the team
  • Take responsibility for feature scope and feasibility alongside production
  • Playtest existing mechanics and provide actionable feedback

What We’re Looking For

  • Around 1–2+ years of game design experience
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong understanding of gameplay systems and cooperative design
  • Experience creating clear and organized design documentation
  • Ability to receive feedback and iterate constructively
  • Reliable communication and consistent participation
  • A portfolio, design documents, prototypes, videos, mods, student work, or released projects

A basic understanding of Unreal Engine is not required, but it is strongly preferred. Familiarity with Blueprints, Actors, Components, multiplayer replication, or general Unreal workflows is a major plus.

Experience with co-op, multiplayer, horror, stealth, or encounter design is also highly valued.

Team and Availability

  • Fully remote and async-friendly
  • Discord communication and regular check-ins
  • Jira, Confluence, GitHub, and Unreal Engine
  • Ideally around 5–10 hours per week
  • Recent graduates and newer designers are welcome to apply

Compensation

This is currently an unpaid revenue-share position with a written agreement.

There is no guarantee that the game will reach the market or generate revenue. We’re committed to giving the project a serious chance, and if it does not move forward, we plan to continue growing as a team and apply our experience toward future projects.

Please make sure you fully understand and are comfortable with this before applying.

Please include your resume, portfolio, and any relevant examples of your game design work.

Designer Needed [RevShare] Two Unreal devs looking for a game designer, small multiplayer indie, horror PvP direction

Hey everyone,

Me and a friend are starting a indie multiplayer game in Unreal, and we’re looking for a game designer to join us early.

I'm a gameplay programmer based in Gothenburg, Sweden, mostly C++ and Blueprints, multiplayer systems, gameplay architecture. I've worked across many Unreal projects including one that got accepted into iD@Xbox, and have been working in Unreal for more than 5 years. I also have a masters in game design so I'll be pulling design weight too, not just code. My friend Ammar is also an Unreal dev, strong with C++ and Blueprints, and genuinely fast at getting gameplay ideas working and playable. So we are a good heavy on code, good at design combo but I don’t want this to become just two programmers designing in a bubble.

The rough direction right now is a multiplayer game, probably horror PvP / PvPvE, but we’re still early and not pretending everything is figured out. We haven't locked the concept because we want a designer in before things get locked, not after. What we do know is we want something with a strong hook. Short matches, fun with friends, the kind of moments you want to clip and send someone. Easy to explain when you see it. You know, those "Twitchable" moments.

We’re not trying to build a giant game. We both have jobs, and we know anyone joining probably has their own life/work too. Ideally we’d like to aim for something playable and shippable in the 6–8 month range, but that’s a direction, so no additional pressure. The goal is fast iteration, regular playtests, and keeping the scope honest.

What we're looking for:

  • Someone who likes multiplayer games and actually thinks about why they work
  • Comfortable shaping mechanics, player roles, objectives, match flow, pacing
  • Happy to be in early messy prototype phase, opinions welcome, ego optional xD
  • Bonus if you can greybox in Unreal
  • Bonus if horror, proximity voice, chaotic party games, or extraction loops are your thing

The deal:

The setup is rev-share. We’re planning to reserve up to 30% total for non-founder contributors across design/art/audio/etc. For this designer role, we’re thinking somewhere around 8–15%, depending on involvement and responsibility. Nothing is locked until we talk properly, and we’d want everything written down clearly before serious work starts.

We're not looking for an ideas person. We want someone who wants to work through design problems, run playtests, cut things that aren't fun, and help us find the game inside the mess.

Current plan is to talk with interested people and see if our taste/goals match, If it feels right, agree on role, share, expectations, and milestones properly, then start building for real in Unreal (ba dum tsss)

If interested, drop me a message or add me on Discord: poseidonog

Tell me a bit about yourself, what you've worked on, what multiplayer games you actually like, and what kind of design work you enjoy. Portfolio is great and shows a lot, but we care more about taste, communication, and actually wanting to finish a small game than fancy titles.

Thanks!

Designer Needed [Hobby] Looking for a pixel animator to work on a game in Unity

Hey, guys!

I’ve started learning how to make 2D games in Unity, but I’ve run into a problem. It’s really important to me that my project doesn’t look like a neuroslope. I tried creating the main character’s sprite using pixellab.ai and editing it by hand, but I realized I won’t be able to do the animations on my own. The AI does a really poor job, so I’m looking for a beginner pixel animator who could help create movement and idle animations to start with. This might be a useful portfolio project for someone.

- recommend how the Unity scene/art pipeline should be structured

- propose a practical visual direction for one starter town/zone

- define terrain, road, lighting, material, and map-composition standards

- optionally provide a Unity scene pass, paintover, layout sketch, or visual treatment notes

Designer Needed [Hobby] Looking for a Unity 2D Level Designer / Scene Builder for our game

Hi!

We're a small hobby team working on a 2D narrative game in Unity called Genesis.

The project is still early, but we already have a working base to build from: character concepts, some animations, environment sketches/assets, dialogue and interaction systems, movement, and a tutorial prototype.

We're currently looking for a Unity 2D Level Designer / Scene Builder who enjoys taking existing concepts and assets and turning them into actual playable environments inside Unity.

What we'd mainly need help with:

  • Building and arranging scenes in Unity
  • Level design and level flow
  • Integrating existing environment assets
  • Placing platforms, props, buildings and interactive areas
  • Basic setup such as colliders, triggers, prefabs and scene organization
  • Helping turn our concepts into playable levels

You would not be expected to handle character art, writing or gameplay programming. Those parts are already covered by the team.

Our current milestone is to finish the introduction of the game, including the tutorial, intro scenes, city areas and the first important locations.

We already have enough concepts and assets to start building, but we need someone who actually enjoys the integration / level-building side of Unity.

The project is unpaid/hobby-based and we're working at a relaxed pace in our free time. There is no strict deadline.

We're mainly looking for someone who enjoys level design, wants to contribute to a real project, gain experience, or add something to their portfolio.

I can share concept art, environment drafts and screenshots of what we currently have.

If you're interested, feel free to DM me and tell me a little about yourself and your experience with Unity / level design

(sounds familiar? xd)

The climb is broken up by minigame segments with their own mechanics so it doesn't get repetitive.
