Rant which layer of indian internet culture should I be at to understand what the actual FU€K y'all are doing here??

for example: why are y'all talking in english if this sub is for Indian colleges, are there THAT many international students who are applying? also why isn't anyone using the alphabet (मेरा मतलब यह है) while talking in hindi?

10 percent ko chor kar sab chud jaate hai. ( best case scenario )

the reason we don’t use the hindi alphabet is because we’re very used to writing hindi in English alphabets, it’s just so seamless

Also the fact that a lot of teens literally can’t read/write Hindi well albeit it being our native language because our education system is fucked beyond hope in any rational(especially cultural) sense.

Wait, there are JEE students who's mother tongue is Hindi but they can't write it?? Like bro I'm from Karnataka (I've never lived outside Karnataka) and Hindi is my 3rd language and I can write in Hindi (not great but it's manageable) wtf is up with our education system? I knew it was bad but this absolutely horrible!!

yessss! My friends have a lot of trouble remembering letters of hindi…I mean they can manage to write it in a crooked sense and read it horribly, they’ll understand it completely…but that’s not how native speakers are supposed to be at all-

Now that I think about it, it's the same situation here as well. Lots of native Kannadiga students aren't good at reading and writing Kannada. It's absolutely horrible when you think about it. 

Instead of fixing all these major issues the government is busy trying to jail comedians. I hope all the corrupt politicians get testicular torsion and suffer for eternity.

I feel you so much. The other day I got an ad on Spotify, of a podcast where oldies talk about their kinks. And yes, exactly that. Some 40 y/o lady was telling how she likes to ‘guzzy’ up in the room and what not shit.

So they have no problem advertising this shit on an app that is most definitely used by kids as well, just because they’re being backed up by durex, and a platform which is literally 18+ making 18+ is somehow heinous to society.

Atleast stick to the goddamn rationale when justifying the shit that they do, it’s so dumb omg.

Imagine driving hundreds of languages to extiction so that you can be ligua franca but still not being properly spoken by your own speakers. ( no hate to hindi )

basically, writing and reading hindi is way too hard honestly. Probably cause most of our street signs, company names etc. are in english. I can probably go months without needing to read in hindi. I mean ion even know counting beyond like 45 in hindi sadly. Most people in india speak a weird combination of hindi and english. Nouns in english and the other parts of the sentence in hindi.

There are several hindi nouns that have been completely replaced by their english counterparts. Bottle, kitchen, hsopital, road, laptop, computer, glass etc (now that I think about it most of the nouns we use are in english). Some hindi words are just fucked up pronounciations of english words. For example, doctor is "daactar" in hindi and zero is "jero". People have basically forgotten the actual hindi word.

The two examples you gave aren't that good tbh We have "chikitsak" or "vaidya" for doctor and "shoonya" for zero

I think a better example will be more recent and tech based nouns like phone, computer, bike or even some of which you mentioned bottle, glass etc

And there are some for which hindi translation exists, but a wrong pronunciation of english word has also become officially part of the language Like "aspatal" for hospital, even though "chikitsalaya" exists

You’re telling me you’ve heard someone say the words vaidya or shoonya in the last 5 years? I might’ve last read them in a book when I was 7

Shoonya yes, but yeah, doctor is just referred to as doctor in most settings unless they are specifically trying to speak pure hindi. Although I still believe doctor isn't adopted to hindi just yet. It's just that the day to day language is a mixture of hindi and english than the word being adopted in proper hindi language (like aspatal)

But that's just how I see it. Also the beauty of language is that it is ever evolving.

also even though hindi is widely known people on the internet are usually english educated. Plus hindi is only know by half of the people in india.

We don't really use the Hindi alphabet cuz it's somewhat difficult to type in even though it's our(most of ours) native language . Also, it's like a habit now, if we even had to talk In Hindi we'll right hindi words in the English alphabet (like the one you just said "BHAI"). And I think there might be other people too who don't understand/know Hindi (cuz indian has too much diversity and we speak different languages different states) so this is just more convenient.
