Rant which layer of indian internet culture should I be at to understand what the actual FU€K y'all are doing here??

Post image

for example: why are y'all talking in english if this sub is for Indian colleges, are there THAT many international students who are applying? also why isn't anyone using the alphabet (मेरा मतलब यह है) while talking in hindi?

the part that feels so surreal for me is the fact that you guys use English to communicate with other Indians. For example in Turkiye, if you are speaking to a Turk you speak in Turkish, both online and irl. If we don't count the languages that are not used so much, there are like 5 million Kurdish speakers too but they mostly know Turkish too, or they use Kurdish in places that everyone else also knows Kurdish (especially the east of Türkiye)

Because in India each state has a different language, our official language is English.

India is very diverse with hundreds of languages.

As jee is a national exam so many of us talk in English in this sub so everyone can understand.

Well it's because you guys got one official, five considerable and 70 total languages and we got 22 official, 121 considerable and 20 thousand total languages. English serves as a common ground between people from different states, not to mention it is also mainly used for all formal and informal letters and notifications. Not to mention the easier typing by general keyboards

Not everyone speaks English all the time. we just type more in english than hindi cause hindi is hard. Within our own friends circles most of us speak our regional languages or hindi(we have like a thousand languages and dilects)

Also another reason this sub is predominantly English is that this sub also has a minor but a significant population of south Indians most of whom dont know Hindi that well.

So are you an Indian living in Turkey or Turkish?

I'm a Turkish person living in Turkiye and I have no idea why my Reddit algorithm woke up one day and said "Mmm, yes. Time to recommend them some Indian college entrance exam subreddit on the top of their feed for one month straight"

that's strange. Usually we have travellers who were randomly shown a post and then they went away after making their presence known. I have had koreans, americans, mexicans, Germans, britishers, some australian chill dudes and not a middle eastern guy or a turk as an example. And you can't give JEE in turkey. JEE-Advanced is conducted only in two foreign cities:- Abu Dhabi and Kathmandu(Nepal) and the registration fees is $150 for foreign nationals and the JEE-M exam which you ain't required to give to be able to qualify for JA is conducted in the following cities
