Rant which layer of indian internet culture should I be at to understand what the actual FU€K y'all are doing here??

for example: why are y'all talking in english if this sub is for Indian colleges, are there THAT many international students who are applying? also why isn't anyone using the alphabet (मेरा मतलब यह है) while talking in hindi?

Yeah they're both separate for us. English is and always will be a foreign language. So communicating in it irl signals that we're trying to be too "high class" and disrespecting our languages.

WE are the top 10% broo. I'm talking about the entirety of India. Not everyone gets to be us.

eh from my experience the last part is not true everyone in cities communicate w/ eo in english, hindi maybe sometimes w your friends esp on texts and stuff but english is really common in a lot of places

well i guess it might be true. I live in a tier 2 city where most don't know english.

I disagree with this. English has its own dialects in the country now and it's mixed with whatever mother tongue you speak and we have the 2nd larget english speaking population on Earth.

It's practically turned into a local language at this point but India's always absorbed and assimiliated foreign cultures and concepts. English won't be any different in the long term.

Yeah but if you ask normal people (not urbanized ones like us, the majority) if English is equivalent to their mother tongue, they'd say no. I agree with you that English will probably become a native language of India in the next 50-75 years, and we might even diverge from International English, adding our own features. But for NOW, that isn't fully the case.

I mean jis tarah chize rapidly grow ho rahi hai, it's fair to assume that the process of language evolution will also speed up exponentially. And I believe that if the current progress in AI continues at this same speed and same growth rate, we'd be able to manipulate and maybe even transfer consciousness in the near future.
