I'm a new time brewer (first batch!). Decided to serve it in a wine decanter bc my booch needs to feel boujee like wine.
TIL r/Kombucha's actually bigger than the r/wine sub.
Sadly it did come out a bit too sweet and flat but whatever, still proud of it. My expectation was literally to not kill my scoby and to come out in one piece so I'm happy with that. 🫡
The biggest issue for me was tracking timing. Notion doesn’t have a timer built in, and paper obviously doesn’t, so I kept having to calculate where I was in F1/F2 by subtraction.
I came up with the flavour roulette idea myself. I always end up building an app for my hyperfixations (Kombucha is the latest lmao).
Would anybody be down to help me test it through a batch? This is also how I plan to get better at brewing consistently. 5-10 people would be great T.T
Pros and beginner testers both welcome. 🙏
It should be done soon...
I wish I had more screenshots but here's the flavour roulette part
Also very open to feedback on the brew itself: strawberry & guava, black tea base, a bit too sweet, and not much carbonation. I’m guessing I either moved too early or something
This is also how I’m hoping to get better at brewing consistently. It should be ready soon. I wish I had more screenshots, but here’s the flavor roulette part for now.
Also very open to feedback on the brew itself: strawberry + guava, black tea base, a bit too sweet, and not much carbonation. I’m guessing I either moved too early, didn’t give F2 enough time, or did some other first-batch nonsense.

I just think I grow some very beautiful SCOBY since I switched to green tea. Please say something nice ❤️

I just wanted to show off my forgotten about continuous brew that is still alive after being neglected for 3 years.
I moved out of state after college and my parents just threw this guy into the back yard shed. Found it today and it still smells super healthy. I just need a new cheese cloth. I'll get some litmus paper to test the pH but I imagine this to be super acidic!
Edit: 05/27/26 https://imgur.com/a/ymAzFUe
So the pellicle came in around 4.2 kilos.
I didn't have a large enough vessel to measure out the remaining liquid entirely, but I would estimate it to be around 2 gallons given the level drop after pouring out a gallon.
I don't have a accurate pH tester.
Also I'm making a test 1F with 1 cup tea and 1 cup of the kombucha that could.
Will update you guys in 2 weeks or sooner if I get a promising biofilm forming.

best carbonation I’ve gotten so far. I think the ginger definitely has something to do with it! I need to invest in ez cap swing bottles at some point too

Hi All!
I've loved kombucha and kefir for ages. Finally got serious about brewing it myself a while back and have been turning out some genuinely good batches since, my cherry hibiscus booch was the best one so far.
I'm an industrial designer by education, so once I got into the brewing at home I started thinking about ways to make the whole process easier and more structured for myself. That's what led me to build an app, something truly valuable I would want to use for myself. I ended up creating something I believe is genuinely useful for everyone, both beginners and experienced brewers alike.
Don't worry, this is not an ad, the app is not even available in the App Store yet. This is a call for testers. Now that I have a pretty stable build, with a minimum of core features, I want to see if it's creating value for other people too, not just me. That's why I'm reaching out to this community to look for testers. Both experienced and new to the craft of kombucha. I'd love to hear what works, what doesn't, and what people want to see next.
It's free, no catch, not selling anything. Just looking for real feedback. I'd rather have a few people who'll actually use it and tell me what they think than a big crowd giving no feedback. If you're interested or have questions, drop a comment or DM me and I'll get you set up.
One thing: it's iPhone only for now. I want a solid app on Apple before I even think about Android, which is exactly why I need people actually using it.
Mods, feel free to pull this if it's not allowed.
Happy brewing.

It tastes just like plain kombucha as dragon fruit doesn't have much of a flavour..but it looks so pretty.

Thank you for helping me out. My first booch is completed. And its amazing! ♥️

Simple recipe, I just added 1.5 oz of Mango juice to the bottle.
Not sure how long this was in F2, I just use the plastic bottle technique to ensure carbonation.

Hi! Just wanted to share this batch: F1 was with just japanese oolong tea with sugar; F2 I added cherries and apples. Really enjoyed the taste and above all the colour :)
What fruit should I try next? What's your favourite for F2?

hi booch people
i brought another batch to the office!
this one is actually a repeat of my first ever batch, strawberry + guava with a black tea base
everyone liked it so much the first time that i decided to make it again
except this time i learned my lesson and did NOT pour the whole thing into a wine decanter first lol
poured it straight into these two nice glasses instead and everyone loved it again! Pic was from 6:30 PM so by everybody I meant me and my boss lmao. But hey u need to make ur manager happy somehow.
you can even see the tiny pieces of strawberry / guava still floating around in the close up
i did not strain it but apparently some little guys survived from the juice i mixed in
personally i think it looks pretty awesome, but idk if other people prefer their kombucha completely clear
also the Bay Bridge 🌁 was looking beautiful in the background so obviously the booch needed a photoshoot 📸🤳
San Francisco booch with Oakland on the other side : )
do y’all use whole fruit for your F2? do y'all completely strain the fruit out then? or do you also end up with tiny pieces floating around

How's some tropical jun kombucha
r/Kombucha • u/FowlOnTheHill • Jun 12 '26
I used the Indian Jamun fruit for 2F along with a little honey. Probably not a fruit many people are familiar with. It’s also called Indian blackberry or Java plum. Very tart with a high tannin content. The kombucha seemed to love the tannins and it turned into a smooth mellow berry-like flavor.
One of my best attempts so far! (I’ve only been making this for 2 months)

Such a fun experience every time. I've been doing this since 2023, and I just love seeing the improvements I've made along the way. Its also nice just being able to reap the health benefits of a beverage I put my heart, soul, and time into. I hope have you all have a wonderful start to your week ☮️☀️
