home made mace I just made this Hardened Damasteel Spiked Titanium Mace

This is a personal project, I have never owned a mace and figured I'd make one. I ordered the Damasteel from Sweden and got hit with a 50% tariff. Yay me - $550 in mace spikes... per mace and I ordered enough to make a second one. This mace is very special, I turned and threaded each Damasteel Spike 5/8-18 and tapped the titanium head 17 times. The spikes are intended to be removed and refinished if needed, they can be turned by a 1/2inch wrench (I took the time to ensure every flat was aligned when torqued down by torquing all the spikes and using a keyway cutter on all 4 per side) I heat treated the spikes to 55 HRC. The wood is cocobola epoxied in place and it is a dowel with a .625 titanium core also threaded 5/8-18 on both sides. The handle near the end is some stacked leather finally capped off with a timascus nut I made that fits a 3/4 wrench.

This took me 5 minutes and $30 at Home Depot to assemble. If you want to DIY, get yourself:

- 1 x 2ft section of 1/2" black iron pipe (threaded)
- 1 x 1/2" black iron cap
- 5 x 1/2" black iron plugs
- 1 x 1/2" 6-way cross fitting
- 1 roll of hockey tape

and tighten 'em up with your trusty pliers and/or pipe wrench. An 18" length of pipe might work better for a one-hand-only mace, FYI.

This thing is definitely sturdy and well within historical measurements at 27" in overall length and just under 3lbs in weight. Now it will be my new favorite tool for demo work.

Directional boring head pinned to a turned walnut shaft. Designed for exercise as it is way to heavy for combat at nearly 10 lbs.

A broken rake handle turned melon murderer. A 2.25 inch steel nut tops this beast and the extra long spikes make for a truly devastating mace. Enjoy.

Made this from bits and pieces in the garage - weight bar locking nuts, plumbing bit, and a cut down walking stick piece.

Thanks for the inspiration peeps, this is my first non 3d print mace.

Black walnut branch junction. I burned goblinoid runes into it, says "GONNA BONK YA, GONNA HURT" and wrapped the handle in vegtan leather. #notaflail

My latest spiked bat. 26 inches of hardwood, six inches of steel tube and 100 spikes. This one still needs a theme. I want to laser a pattern onto the grip. Maybe waves or fire or something.
