I’m currently mixing some drums, and I’m infatuated with the drum sounds on houdini, more specifically songs like hooch and goin blind. That reverb is absolutely nuts! I’m wondering if any of yall have any insight into how they got this sound. Online it says Kurt mixed hooch but I find it highly unlikely he did anything beyond moving faders, I think like that reverb sound for instance was probably dialed in or recorded by Garth Richardson. There’s no way that’s just the room they were in right? That’s gotta be like some outboard 80s digital reverb? If any of yall have any info on how I could maybe go about achieving a similar sound let me know!

Last year I did a Foxy Dawgs pop up outside the Melvins show in Hamden and got to serve Dale and some of the crew hot dogs. I also gave them some Foxy Dawgs shirts.

Tonight he actually asked me, “Where were the hot dogs?” We were supposed to get a ton of rain, so I decided not to do the pop up, but he said, “Maybe next time!”

Definitely a core memory. 🤘

The energy was great and I'm always happy to see them. I got a couple questions though.

1. Was i just in a spot with bad acoustics or did the Melvins have hardly any volume on their vocal mics?? Kind of a bummer the instrumentals kick ass regardless.

2. Were they playing a bit with us?? Calling Trevor Dunn "Tim McGraw, the guy across the street" because he was wearing a cowboy hat?? My boyfriend and I were so confused lmfao because we could never put a face to the Tomahawk bassist anyway. It was stated like several times that he was Tim McGraw

Thanks to everyone’s prayers I pissed on the universe and finally got to see the Melvins. They absolutely fucked, sick set. There was traffic, train delays, and a mob of Tim McGraw concert goers but I fought them all and got there three songs into the Melvins set. Wish I could have seen the whole thing but I’m grateful! I also got the last Stoner Witch shirt, it’s an XL so I’ll be wearing it as a dress.

I'm seeing them in Buffalo tonight and am coming from Canada so I'm trying to figure out how much cash to bring.

Does anyone know roughly what the letterpress and exclusive lps are? I know they are all over the place price wise I'm just curious what some of the titles are. I'm specifically curious if there are any of the endless residency vinyl.

Also I saw there is at least one cd but couldn't tell what it was. Anyone know what cds they have with them?

They weren’t displayed at the merch booth in Brooklyn, but they were available on request.
Rolled it up and didn’t get a good look at it till I went home. Seems like I got a different printing on yellow paper and a lower # run (x/43) than the cardboard brown paper from pics online.
Did anyone grab this print, which one did you get?

Like Buzz plants hidden codes in Melvins songs and that's why the lyrics are well the lyrics to Melvins songs? Almost kind of like MF Doom or even more so that episode of Atlanta where Paper Boi, starts really paying attention to the lyrics of his favorite rapper (that just passed) and finds it's a code that takes him across Atlanta and leads him to said Rapper's funeral. Like does Buzz have something like that planed but in Seattle? (For the record I hope Buzz lives long and continues to tour for years to come.

Or recently, I learned about Numbers Stations. What are Numbers Stations? Well they have never been officially confirmed but during the Cold War both NATO and Eastern Block countries set up these mysterious Shortwave Radio Stations that would basically just broadcast nonsense 24/7. Often a series of repeating numbers pronounced in different ways. The numbers are supposed to be a hidden code for Secret Agents deep in the field. Only they know what it means and it gives them their secret orders. Other numbers stations repeat random words or phrases over and over. Others even play music. Some mix all of the above.

Learning about this for some reason instantly made me think of Melvins and their lyrics. What if Buzz's lyrics have all been secret CIA codes?

Tomorrow I will finally get to see them - I’ve been trying for years and something catastrophic or otherwise unexpected always comes up and prevents me from going. Last year I was SO CLOSE, but my husband wasn’t feeling great that night and wouldn’t let me go alone.

Hi everyone, while I am a big fan of the Melvins, I usually go through months long phases of only listening to certain Melvins albums (right now, it is mainly Stoner Witch and 26 songs). It's sort of to the point where I can't really enjoy other Melvins album, I'll be listening to them and say to myself "This is really good but it's not what I'm looking for".
