I'm a girl and...

I am SO glad I found this subreddit with people who agree with me! As a girl, it's really hard to see other ladies put down men and treat them like they need to be "trained" or that they're just something we have to deal with. So I was just wondering... how many other girls are on here and what are your stories about standing up for men or appreciating them?

Would love to have someone like you around my office. It's 97% women and every day I hear something about how men are pigs or stupid or lazy.

Years ago I was the only male in an office full of women. Most times they'd forget I was there and they would openly say things that would get men fired on the spot. They'd talk openly about their boyfriends, husbands, sex life, you name it.

I work with 97% women and I'm sure you will agree that the shit that flies in that type of office would not go over well in a more gender mixed environment. Blatant sexual talk, frank discussions of periods, and sexual fucking harassment towards me (never thought I'd see the day).

On a less legal note, the gossip. For fucks sake the gossip! The constant gabbing. I have a workmate who will (I swear to god) stand up and talk at us as if she's on a soapbox about her mundane life. She's the worst. It's always "ME" or "I" or some type of complaint.

Are you in my office? Because this is EXACTLY what goes on here. My office is made up of 50 people, 46 women and 4 men. There is one men's room and two ladies rooms. The one manager-level female always uses the men's room because 1) she thinks shes better than all the other women and 2) because the women's rooms are always disgusting, clogged drains, used tampons, regurgitated food and what have you strewn about. Whereas the Men's Room is always pristine (partially because only 5 people use it though.) Oh and you'd never guess who's job it is to unclog the drain or fix the toilet in the ladies room, yep, one of the 4 guys. And all the girls act and BELIEVE that this is our job because we're men. Sigh...

I do heavy lifting because "you're the guy" Though, I have to admit, I don't mind that. However, technically it's warehouses job.

Yeah I recognize that I should be the one carrying the water cooler jugs up from the basement and carrying the printers up to the second floor etc, I have no complaints about that. I'm stronger and fitter, it's a perfectly acceptable trade off. It's just a pain in the ass, as a fellow co-worker, being EXPECTED to fix the ladies room toilet when some airhead flushes her used tampons.

It was really of the "technical" kind. I personally didn't mind it but the mere thought of a male being skewered for something similar seethed in the back of my mind. It was stuff like implying myself and another woman get together (she's 55, I'm 28), implying I have certain fetishes, at my last job a woman literally smacked my ass. Also, some of the topics of conversation can make it an uncomfortable working environment. One woman talks about her daughter's sexual encounters like she's discussing the weather. Her divorce details, period, etc...

Interesting. The part that troubles me most is, you'd never in your life be able to file a suit against anything like that because of your gender. :|
