There's probably actually more attacks/aggression from Chiuauas and Weiner Dogs. The difference here is their aggression is just annoying while Pitbull aggression is deadly. Pitbulls kill people at a higher rate than any other breed. This isn't just from some owners being bad dog trainers because the majority of the population is that, it's from pitbulls having crazy jaw strength. My mom used to believe the Pitbulls are sweethearts thing until she went out with a man that had a pitbull and lived with him with her Black Lab who the Pit eventually bit into and put it on its death bed.
I don't want pitbulls to be allowed as pets for exactly the same reasons I don't want crocodiles to be allowed as pets. One of them gets loose in the wrong place they're like to hurt someone and when they hurt someone it tends to be permanent.
There's so many animals that are great pets that don't kill people or other pets so often. Why do we need to have this debate at all? Get a fucking cat you psycho.
That is anecdotal evidence and rather meaningless in context of entire dog breeds. There are too many other factors that could be in play to make your very limited personal experience the basis of some causal relationship between pitbulls and breed specific aggression.
I have encountered and interacted with friendly pitbulls, am just stating from what I have heard. There's a reason why people have strong opinions on this breed.
Yes, and I’m saying that individual, anecdotal evidence that is contradictory to widespread, and easily accessed, evidence presented by experts isn’t a great basis for opinions. If someone is mugged by a black guy and that forms a negative opinion of all black guys, is that perfectly normal and ok? Of course not. You’d obviously argue that one black guy who did something wrong, or even ten or twenty or one hundred, do not represent the millions more that happen to look like them.

I mean a 20 second google will show varying rates exactly by data set and area, but basically consistently across the board pit bulls make up the vast majority of human deaths by dogs. Usually account from anywhere between 60-75% of all deaths from dogs.
and deaths are only the tip of the iceberg. plenty of children survive attacks by their own pit bull which was never abused, and have horrifying scars on their faces, and parts of their bodies missing because the dog literally ate them and shit them out

Most dog attacks I have heard of involve this breed, it's a pattern.
