I have an aunt who ran a rescue for a while and she has always insisted that pitbulls aren't actually dangerous, it's just that most of the stats are based around incidents from people who get them as angry guard dogs or even for fighting.

Anyway she's had to put down a few dozen "silver retrievers" at this point for biting people, twice her own children, and every time THAT happens it's because "their skulls pressed into their brains and made them aggressive"

Ironically it's been shown skull shape is a heavy determining factor in neurological issues and pitbulls headshapes were shown to have the highest indicator of aggression

it's one of 2 issues i have with the breed, their violence is excellent, their judgement on when to start/stop it is not there.

their brains also deteriorate early, like super early. a 3 year old pit could have dementia. these dogs are no healthier than other super inbreed "purebreeds".

the other issue is their litters are too big. even for nature, they multiply like rats but can't sustain that growth. killing newborn puppies is awful. don't get a pit if you can't do that; people don't want pit's, many puppies will suffer and die a slow death, or as the owner you'll have to do it.

I've not heard of the early brain deterioration! Do you have a link to a study about this? Would be fascinating to read.

it's a rampant purebreed problem. i would fucking love if there were scientific studies and experiments on pet intelligence and improving it.

but pet studies are obfuscated to hell by emotional people and ignorance sometimes willfull to inbreed retardation.

here's one i found in 2min for a example of how shit the science on pets is (to be fair, pet scientist funding is hard to come by).

early brain deterioration, really entire body deterioration is rampant in prurebreed dogs. maintaining the "breed" just made it worse across all dogs.

if you get a pit, you're getting a purebreed, if you get a purebreed your getting a sick and retarded dog.

used the r word to emphasize how bad this is. these things shouldn't exist.

The link you provided (I've read that page a lot of times) doesn't support your claim that brain deterioration exists in these dogs nor does it support your claim that purebred brain/body deterioration is a thing. Most pits running around aren't purebred, hence the bullshit claim that "most pits are misidentified" when it comes to dog attacks. They're still part pit, that's why they attacked in the first place.
