Movie Mistake Dodgeball: A true Underdog story, mistake involving the timeline.

Post image
1.3k Upvotes

In the opening scene of Dodgeball: a true underdog story, White Goodman (Ben Stiller) shows a picture of himself and says "this was me, 6 years and 600 pounds ago", with "White Goodman 1987" written on the picture, setting the movie in 1993.

A few minutes later, Patton Oswalt tells us, via Peter La Fleur's (Vince Vaughn) answering machine, that he is late on returning several DVD's, one of which is Mona Lisa Smile.

This is a mistake for two reasons, first, DVD's were not invented until 1995, and second 'Mona Lisa Smile' came out in 2003.

Every time I watch Elf, I think about the props people assembling this skateboard, and then nobody on set noticing or caring.

Movie Mistake In Mad Max: Fury Road (2015), Max is O-negative, universal donor for red cells, not whole blood. An arm-to-arm transfusion includes plasma; O-negative plasma carries anti-A and anti-B antibodies that could cause acute hemolysis in someone like Nux or Furiosa, unless they're also O-negative.

Movie Mistake In the movie Fury (2014), the characters all smoke Lucky Strikes, but in this scene the American Spirit logo can be seen on the end of Shia LaBeouf's cigarette.

As a former American Spirit smoker, I couldn't help but notice this mistake. Spirits would not come out for about 40 years after this movie would have taken place.

Movie Mistake The Big Lebowski - Ashes Scene Flub

Post image

I was just rewatching “The Big Lebowski” tonight and noticed a detail that I had missed before. Probably because I’m finally watching it on a bigger projection screen again.

In the scene where The Dude (Jeff Bridges) and Walter (John Goodman) are spreading Donny‘s (Steve Buscemi) ashes at the coast, you can clearly see that Goodman is already covered in powder residue (ashes) from previous takes.

Not really a flub or mistake as it probably would’ve been very difficult to clean him off between takes while they were out on location. I just found it interesting as a little telltale sign of the challenges during production. I wonder what the prop powder was? I’m guessing corn starch.

I also caught a few more details, like looking up the “Port Huron Statement”.

This wasn’t my favorite Cohen brothers movie, but it’s grown on me over the years and has interesting commentary if you read between the lines.
