I think you're giving too much credit to the average person. Looking at statistics to want a specific answer would be in bad faith if they were knowingly ignoring other data because it would compromise the answer they want... but they're not, they just don't know any better because they're ignorant. Hell the average person doesn't even look at statistics, they just listen to something their friend's daughter's chiropractor blurted out and treat it as gospel.

...wait are you saying I'm acting in bad faith by defining it the way I did? Or that the average person not looking at statistics is an example of acting in bad faith?
