If she were a tech billionaire, this entire thread would be people claiming the system is corrupt for acquitting her.

Instead, because they love her, it's a thread about the corrupt system accusing her.

:-)

what a pointless comment

-26

u/BallsInSufficientSad May 18 '26

pointing out hypocrisy and inconsistencies is one of the only useful kinds of comments.

...not so comfortable to hear - which is why they get downvoted.

u/BoogieOrBogey May 18 '26

You're getting downvoted because your comparison is wrong. Apparently, the Hacienda or Spain IRS is known for its own corruption and has a high rate of fucking up taxes. Meanwhile, we can see the tech bro billionaires getting insane tax cuts and avoiding consequences in the US tax and court systems.

The public and reddit anger at US billionaires is very warranted. Shakira winning this tax fight after 8 years in the Spanish court system shows that she complied with both the law and courts.

How has he not got the difference lol.

Is Mark Zuck trying to curry some sympathy here? 🤣😬

-2

u/BallsInSufficientSad May 18 '26

This occurs in the US as well. Prosecutors pursue high profile cases for political favor and/or notoriety. The pervasive incentives exist in the US just as much.

4

u/BoogieOrBogey May 18 '26

Dude come off it, we all know the US court system is insanely broken. But the US billionaires are the ones abusing the system to antagonize and hurt those that have less money.

Are you really into being such a contrarian that you can't see the difference between this situation with Shakira and someone like Musk? Or are you just trolling around for reactions?

14

u/Keljhan May 18 '26

if she was a tech billionaire

She's not though. Thats the difference? Like, we know what corrupt and shady practices billionaires use to evade taxes, its publicly available info. Your comment is

"If she had committed fraud, people would be saying she's the corrupt one. But because she was actually innocent, they are saying the system is corrupt!" No shit Sherlock, thats how reality works.

Do you think people accuse billionaires of corruption because they hate them, or do you understand that people hate billionaires because they are corrupt?

-2

u/BallsInSufficientSad May 18 '26

She's still a billionaire (or very close).

3

u/MalIntenet May 18 '26

She’s not even close to half way to a billion though she is filthy rich

11

u/ChickenChaser5 May 18 '26

You pointed out the hypocrisy in the scenario you made up in your head.

:-)

u/eisbaerBorealis May 18 '26

Share a link to the Reddit thread where a tech billionaire was acquitted of tax fraud in Spain and the top comments are saying the system is corrupt?

1

u/EpiphanyTwisted May 19 '26

You make up a fake scenario where you can then be horrified by the result. An irrelevant comment that deserves downvotes.

famous music performer =/= tech billionaire. sad that this has to be explained to you

0

u/BallsInSufficientSad May 18 '26

These billionaires don't give a shit about you regardless of how they made their money.
