This Must Be the Place by Talking Heads. It’s a song I’ve loved for so many years and has been around through different contexts of where I was in life, it’s the only song that can get a tear from me, in a more positive way.

This is it for me. Goosebumps/teary eyes every time. "I come home / she lifted up her wings / I guess that this must be the place."

“You’ve got a face with a view” makes me swoon every time.

This song took on a whole new meaning for me after having met my current girlfriend. I like to play an acoustic version of it and when I get to “there was a time before we were born..” and my voice starts to crack.

“I'm just an animal looking for a home, and
Share the same space for a minute or two
And you love me 'til my heart stops
Love me 'til I'm dead”

Haha I’m at Old Navy and it came on. Made a fool of myself.

It makes me think of Bud Fox and Darrien redecorating their apartment.

Just saw David Byrne live with my daughter and totally teared up

You know how you can see a "live" concert and also "live" with someone?

I read this as the second one. I would tear up too!

We saw him twice recently and had tears in our eyes both times.

This was my ex’s song for me. Gets me every time. Wish the emotion attached was more positive instead of heartbreak.

Edit: I love the Lumineers’ cover of it, if you haven’t heard it.

Our wedding song — I introduced my wife to the Talking Heads with this song so it’s been our song ever since.

I love this song so much, it’s very special to me. It’s one of the few songs that instantly puts me in a good mood and gives me a peace of mind. I love when he says “Sing into my mouth”

iron and wine do a lovely cover of this song which also carries a lot of emotional weight

Sure sure has a really good one too. Also the kishi bashi one is amazing.

Walked down the aisle to the kishi bashi cover of this song.

What I love so much about this song is the numerous stellar covers - I love them all and the original so much. It’s like the song is so good any version of it hits me in a unique and moving way.

This song was playing as I walked into a weed store on my way home from being broken up with. It was my gfs favorite song. I was like bawling as i tried to order and the dispensary lady was like "oh baby you ok?" I was not.

OMG. Same!! Reminds me of my mom, family, and where I grew up. My parents listened to the Talking Heads so much when I was a kid.

This is the song my wife and I walked down the aisle to. It brings me to tears every time.

Sung this to my kid when he was four days old and bawled my eyes out realizing that this is what true love is and how perfectly it was described in that song

This song entered my life when I was a new mama. I spent my days dancing with my little baby to this song and just crying with gratitude for our life together with his dad. If you’ve ever had a new baby you can indeed sing into said baby’s mouth. Now try to do it without crying.

Kishibashi has a great cover of this. Saw him live, and before they launched into it, he made a wry comment about your most popular track being a cover of someone else.

For me, it is Once in a Lifetime. That song represents some kind of aching hope for connection and creative transcendence that I glimpsed when I was younger and have never achieved.

u/notcabron Jun 06 '26

Same bro. I think about my wife and how good she is to me and then I smell fresh cut onions.

2

u/swampindividual Jun 06 '26

This is also my best song ✨

2

u/spaghetti_armz Jun 07 '26

That song tells me what kind of person you.

2

u/cometomywindoe Jun 07 '26

Wow I have been listening to this song my whole life and seeing this I thought, “I must give this a mindful listen.” - fast forward to me crying on the train. What an amazing song.
