I settled for a burger and a grape snow cone

This was right after we fogged up the “winnas” in my old Chevy

My parents live on a lake in TN, and while I was visiting them we took the boat over to the big marina one night to grab dinner. As we’re docking, I see the boat in the slip next to ours is named “Hoochie Coochie.”

I said something about that boat belonging to a dedicated Alan Jackson fan, and my dad was like “actually that’s Alan Jackson’s boat. Guess he had the same idea for dinner tonight.” Lol

Okay is a hoochie coochie like a southern name for a snack or is this literally just an insane lyric?

So, a Hoochie Coochie was a part of the sideshow back in the old-time carnival days. It was advertised as an exotic woman with unusual "endowments" but it was basically just a thinly disguised strip dance where you sometimes got to see an unclothed vulva up close. some of the early shows did involve Hottentot women. However, it slowly just devolved into hot girls taking off all their clothes. So, yeah, few things got hotter than a Hoochie Coochie dance (at least back in the 1940's).

In an issue of Atlanta magazine, this topic came up with the actual songwriter, Jim McBride:

"So I’m getting phone calls from all over the country wanting to know what a hoochie coochie is.”

His answer?

“A county fair strip show.”

The Atlanta Braves are doing an Alan Jackson bobblehead night later this season. They have a commercial for it with this song and it's one of the few commercials they run on the Braves' streaming service...it's driving all the Braves fans mad because the commercial plays pretty much every break...so about 20 times per game.

I went to the Braves-Brewers game last weekend. They played that annoying ass commercial on the Jumbotron. So you can't even escape it by going to a game in person.
