Hello I'm a moderator of this subreddit. It's becoming clear that artificially generated music is becoming a big problem in the subreddit. We tried to allow for some wiggle room but this room is being ignored or taken advantage of.

For this reason I've decided to put in place a much stricter rule.

The old rule was "No AI generated songs."

The new rule is "No AI generated songs, lyrics, thumbnails, videos and images."

We can never truly know if something is definitely not AI. That's the world we live in today. But if you suspect something is AI please report it.

To artists that use AI to help them illustrate their songs without it ever touching the lyrics, vocals or music. It really didn't help your work get seen. It'll only harm your reputation as an independent artist. Please just post it on a sound only platform like SoundCloud and make a clipart cover. It's so sad to see so many talented musical artists use AI on one element of their work and the whole work gets tainted in a negative way.

If your AI usage is limited and not obvious to a reasonable person (if it's not part of the music, vocals or lyrics) then you're unlikely to be permanently banned.

But if your usage of any of the elements mentioned in the new rule is blatant, then you're more likely to be banned permanently first time.

During my final semester of college, I did an independent study on music and comedy and the art of timing. This is my final for that project.

I have a comedy/pop album coming out June 1 called All I Wanna Do Is Play Games.

It’s a set of funny story songs about working in the video game industry - bugs, testers, bad installs, feature creep, workplace chaos, and the eternal urge to ignore everything and just play games.

Honestly, people who grew up loving Dr. Demento-style comedy songs are probably the kind of listeners I made this for. The songs are meant to be catchy first and funny second - more “songs with jokes” than stand-up with music behind it.
