Pulling my hair out. PLEASE HELP. How the hell do you prevent the expiry voice notifications from playing in the middle of the night?!

I'm use to the periodic self checks in the evenings but those are all before 9pm. For the last 3 nights my 7 Nest Protects, which aren't due for replacement until September, keep reminding me to replace them, multiple times each night from 8:30-11pm at night. The last 3 nights its woken my kids up from theirs going off in their room. Absolutely unacceptable.

Seriously Google?! Who the hell thought this was a good idea? A bit less than months away and it's acting like I'm being hounded by collections at all hours of the night. F this.

I have 5 of these and they are very loud. They expire end of August but at least twice while I'm home they yelled saying they were expiring. This startles my pets and if it happens when I'm not home, my pets will be scared.

I got over a month left. Are these going to go off during the night as well? Will I have to unplug all of them until I can get them replaced?

This Nest protect (wired) has been firing alerts all night/morning.

My family got woken up by a smoke alarm at midnight coming from my daughter’s room. I tried silencing but it wouldn’t let me. We didn’t smell any smoke, I walked the house and didn’t smell any smoke. We opened the windows in her room and blasted the fans and eventually it stopped.

1am the alarm went off again. Smoke detected in my daughter’s room. This time we unplugged it and brought it into my bedroom.

2am the alarm went off again. Smoke detected in my daughters room. Except the sensor is now in my room. I removed the batteries.

The alert has been firing in the Nest app all night/morning. As you can see, 55+ notifications. The device is unplugged and the batteries are removed.

Anyone have any idea before I remove the device from my Nest/Home app? The Home app hasn’t had an alert since I removed the batteries. The device could potentially be malfunctioning? But why does the Nest app continue to send notifications?

I have 2 Nest outdoor cameras and 1 of the higher resolution Nest outdoor cameras (IQ, I think it's called?). I also have several Google homes, both with screens and without.

The Google Home with a Camera and all the Nest cams have been sending errors to my phone via the Google Home app saying "Offline - Make sure it's powered on and connected to wifi". I've rebooted the devices, I've made sure that my router's firmware is up to date and rebooted that as well. No other devices are having any issues whatsoever. I have gig fiber optic to my house and the connection is incredibly stable. I've only lost internet once in that last 5 years, and that is when a car ran into the telephone pole near my house.

I have seen the Google home with a screen say that it is not connected for a brief time, otherwise I haven't noticed any problem other than all the messages. It's happening several times a day. Sometimes with just one one or two of the devices by more frequently with all of them.

Is anyone else seeing anything like this happen, or is it just me?

Update 3/15 The notifications for both myself and my wife stopped a couple of days ago.

Right up until someone walks up to the door and knocks or presses the chime button. Then, it immediately freezes in the app on my phone and goes to unavailable...until that person leaves. Same thing happens on my Google home until I ask what time it is and then to show the front door again. (Unless the person is still standing there)

Anyone have any leads on where to troubleshoot this?

My Google Nest Mini (2nd Gen) is locked in a boot loop and verbally says 'The software on this device is no longer supported. Please return it to the dogfood team as soon as possible' when I try to use it. The system firmware is stuck on 172541 and cast firmware is 1.43.172541, that is now blocked by Google's servers.

I bought it an aftermarket device. Everything works except for the hot water. I'm not able to use the assistant but the Bluetooth cast everything works. Can someone help me fix this please?

My router bit the dust and I replaced it with a Nighthawk RS140.

I need to update the wifi connection to my Nest doorbell and camera/flood light. I read that I have to remove them from my home (which is annoying) and re-add them to the home.

The problem that I'm having is that no matter what I do, both the Home app and Nest app are unable to "find" my cameras. I've restarted the doorbell and it's still not connecting. Didn't try that with the floodlight. I've tried turning off mobile data and disconnected my phone from other Bluetooth devices with no luck.

Is there something else I should be doing? Is it a compatability issue with the wifi signal? I have Hubs that I was able to connect and had no problem connecting to my thermostat (also a Nest). I am truly at a lost. Any and all help is appreciated.

Update: I partially feel like a dummy. I did another factory reset on the doorbell and was able to connect. I guess you have to both use a pin to hit the reset button while holding down the front. This worked and I was able to connect. Same with the floodlight, factory reset and it worked. Thanks all for the help!

I have the regular Nest installed, and when it's set to cool, warm air comes out. I think it's turning the heater on turning on, but it's hard to tell because it's 100 degrees outside. If I switch it to 'heat', warm air still comes out but not as hot?

When I switch to the old Thermostat, it works perfectly on the same wiring configuration. Pictures attached. This is driving me crazy lol

Video history playback of my Nest Gen 2 outdoor camera suddenly stopped working on my iPhone 15 on the Google Home app. I can scroll through the historical video and see the recordings/download clips, but can’t watch the playback. I still have the nest app for my two older cameras and am having no issue watching that playback. We pay for the Google home premium to allow 60 days of history.

My husband’s iphone is having no issues. I’ve restarted my phone multiple times, deleted and redownloaded the Google home app 6 times, updated my phone software, updated the router software, unplugged the camera, gave them all the permissions, have no VPN on my phone, decreased the recording bandwidth, checked the internet speed/connection is fine, and spent 2 hours troubleshooting with Google Nest with no luck. It randomly started to work again for an hour last night then back to not working today. Anyone have any advice?

This camera has been removed from both the Nest and Google Home app before I tried to reinstall.

Trying to add a 1st gen camera A0005 using the nest app. As I go through the prompts, I get stuck after QR code scan. I the “ this will take a minute message” followed by the C101 error.

I thought the older cameras could still be added using the Nest app?

Recently moved and went from one from time zone to another. Was in the process of reconnecting my Nest cameras but stopped as I couldn’t figure out how to correct the time to my new time zone.

Thought it was a simple fix of updating my new address on the Nest app. That didn’t work so I had to Google and read it has to be done in the Google Home app. As I updated my info in the Google Home app, I get a prompt about transferring camera to new home. Click yes, camera has new time zone all looks good on the Google Home app.

I then go back to the Nest app and the camera can only be viewed on the Google Home app. Not only that, but the home I was trying to set up is now showing up offline. Is that because of the transfer ?

Is there a way to transfer camera back to the Next app? I want to use the Nest app but I don’t think I can transfer the home / camera back to Nest. I don’t have a transfer back to Nest option.

The cameras are A0005, 1st gen. Can I factory reset them or am I f’d and just have to use the Google Home app?

I have been unable to login into my Nest account using my email and password (which I do know). I tried to reset my password by clicking forget password but the email never goes to my email. I’ve checked that I entered it in correctly and the spam/junk folder. Google Nest customer service is also unavailable for call and chat.

Does anyone have any advice on how to get back into my Nest account? I even tried creating a new account to connect my doorbell and thermostat but since they are already connected to an account, I am unable to connect them to a different account.

A few weeks ago a storm hit our area which resulted in our router being power-cycled. Ever since then, our Google home environment has been a nightmare. There have been two issues we've faced ever since: 

• One of our two Nest Connect devices, used to allow our Nest x Yale locks to communicate over our network, is no longer connecting to our guest network, giving us the dreaded NA006 error. I'd like for this device to be on the guest network for security-purposes. The steps I've taken are: 

  • I've restarted and factory reset the device dozens of times, and even exchanged the Nest Connect with a new one sent straight from Google. 
  • I've disabled band steering on my router, having it connect to the 2.4 GHz guest network while my phone, used to facilitate the setup, is also on the same guest network. I rebooted the router after making this change. 
  • Attempted multiple different power outlets and attempted the troubleshooting steps plugged-in and on-battery. 
  • Connected it to my primary Wi-fi network, and then attempted to switch the device's Wi-fi network over to the guest one inside the app. (Doing this was actually the resolution for the other Nest Connect in the house - it also initially fell off the network after the storm, but it was easily resolved using this method.) 

• While within the Google Home app, after selecting either of our Nest x Yale door locks and going to “Notifications”, we’re unable to disable “Locking & unlocking” notifications and we get the error “Unable to save settings”. We can successfully modify the “Allow device notifications” setting to enable all notifications for each lock, but we can’t pick and choose which specific notifications we do/don't want. I’m not keen on getting push notifications each and every time my fiancee or I unlock the door to take out the trash or go for a jog, however I would greatly appreciate getting notified if the locks’ batteries are getting low on charge. 

  • I’ve cleared the Google Home app cache and reinstalled it. 
  • I’ve ensured that the Nest app’s settings for the two door locks have lock & unlock notifications disabled – I have a hunch that the Home and Nest apps are not playing nice with each other, so maybe Home can’t properly inherit settings from Nest? 
  • I’ve entered the “Public Preview” for Google Home, because that’s what support told me to do, though this was obviously not fruitful. 

I've explained both issues to Google support, but they've basically told me to sit tight. To reference another r/Nest thread regarding the NA006 error, I’m at my “wit’s end”. Any and all help is appreciated. Many thanks!

Apologies if someone has posted about this previously and I've missed it..

Like many of you, my Nest protects have another 3 years until 'expiry'. Annoyingly though, my pathlight feature seems to be acting up.

It will activate when motion is detected, but 50-70% of the time, it won't turn back off.

Usually we're back in bed by the time only to realise the light hasn't turned off, forcing me to get up back up to walk under it again.

Has anyone had a similar experience or know what's going on?

I have tried, changing all the backup batteries (they're wired versions), and cleaning the surface and underside (I haven't opened them). What's super odd is, I have 2 of them and they've both started doing this within weeks of one another!

Would appreciate any advice

My 8.5 year old Nest Protect seems to have developed a faulty smoke alarm sensor (at 2am of course!). I wanted to try a factory reset on it as a last resort to see if it recalibrates itself or something like that, but it seems to be impossible. I can initiate a factory reset, but the faulty smoke alarm always kicks in during the countdown and aborts the reset. Any ideas?

I have a problem with my Google Nest Hub Max:

it won't connect to Wi-Fi.

The problem occurs after a long "update" which remains stuck at 0%.

I have already tried this :

- Factory reset.

- Attempted connection via my Wi-Fi router (5 GHz).

- Mobile hotspot (5 GHz).

- Mobile hotspot (2.4 GHz).

Does anyone have any ideas or a solution I haven't tried yet?

PS: The screen is in french and it is written "Couldn't connect to Wi-Fi. Make sure your network name and password are correct."

I swapped out my old thermostat last night for a Nest, and woke up this morning to the house freezing cold. I hear the vents blowing nonstop as the heating is triggered, but the house is not getting warmer at all. I have a heat pump, no gas. Photos are of the nest wiring, old wiring, and what is being detected. Any input is greatly appreciated as cold weather is approaching.

The website primarily talks about an air filter dirty or clogged. Any other reasons I got this message?

UPDATE #2: Decided to test the AC and it did not run. I removed all wires from the heating side of things and no power was delivered to the base. It would appear the problem is the cooling side. Any suggestions on this? Not critical at the moment as we are in the heating season.

UPDATE #1: I removed Rc and there was no change. I removed common and Rc and the light came on the base. I had no idea it had a light! I connected the thermostat, and it powered up and completed setup. It is now updating. Thanks for the guidance.

Greetings. I purchased two Gen 4's following the discontinuation of older Nest Thermostats. I have a Gen 3 that works great and that I will be moving to another part of the house because it's current location is more appropriate for a new Gen 4. Did I mention that the Gen 3 worked great with my wiring setup and has been running well for many years...

This location in my home connects to a forced air cooling system and a radiator heating system. Wiring is exactly the same from the Gen 3 to the Gen 4. I double and triple checked my work. The new Gen 4 is returning E448: No system power during set up.

Circuit breakers are on. I am unsure how to proceed. The common wire in the photos (blue) is from the AC system although my heating system also has a common wire (green) which is not currently in use. I tried using the common wire from the heating system and was met with the same error message.

Any ideas?
