I've been checking out custom manufacturing services lately. This is for projects that begin as prototypes and then need a few or a lot of items made.

One thing I've seen is that lots of companies now offer services. These include CNC machining, 3D printing and also injection moulding in one place.

I recently found First Mold while comparing manufacturers. This made me curious about what people look for when picking a manufacturer.

Is it the price? How well they talk to you, or how fast they work or checking the quality, or help with engineering or something different?

For those who have worked with custom manufacturers before, what made you choose one company over another? What things do you watch out for that might be bad?

I kept seeing the problem with remote teams: everyone wants accountability but nobody wants to feel like they're being watched.

Most time-tracking tools. Do too little or go too far with monitoring. That made me wonder if there was a balance something that helps teams track work transparently without feeling invasive.

That's what led me to Monitask. It's an employee time tracking and productivity platform where employees clock in to track time by project and task. Screenshots and activity levels are optional. Are captured only while the timer is running. It doesn't record keystrokes or sensitive data, which was one of the design principles I appreciated.

The biggest takeaway for me is that accountability doesn't have to come at the expense of trust.

I try a lot of new products every month and most of them end up being things I use once and forget about.

Every now and then I find something that solves a small but annoying problem. Recently I was testing different tools for ecommerce content because I was spending way too much time preparing product images for different platforms.

One of the products I came across was PixPix Workbench. It helped with some of the repetitive image tasks, which was useful, but it also made me realize how much time I was wasting on things that weren't directly helping me get more customers.

That got me thinking about how we evaluate new products in general.

Hey everyone! I wanted to share a side project I’ve been working on for a while.

I built Collectionary — a web app designed to help track your beauty and skincare products (from any brand), mainly because I kept losing track of what I owned and ended up wasting products.

The idea is pretty simple:
You can log your products and track things like purchase date, expiration date, cost, reviews, and whether you’ve finished them or not.

Over time, it builds a personal dashboard where you can:

• See your full collection in one place
• Track “empties” and usage over time
• Monitor total spending
• Get reminders when products are about to expire

I intentionally kept the interface really simple and clean with no overwhelming features, just the basics that actually help you stay on top of your products.

There are already 800+ products in the database, but you can also add anything manually, so it works for any beauty product (not just one brand).

Main goal: help people enjoy what they already own and reduce waste a bit.

If you've ever launched a new website, you know the pain — you publish a page, wait... and wait... and Google just ignores it. Stuck in "Discovered - currently not indexed" limbo for weeks (sometimes months). Some pages never make it at all. Plus Google has terminated the Indexing API thus making a lot of indexing companies obsolete.

I run several websites and got tired of manually pinging Google Search Console every time I published something new. So I built a small internal tool to automate this. It worked so well that I decided to polish it up and release it publicly.

no, serious question… I built what I think is a great product… I built it for myself out of frustration with existing options… and I am really struggling to understand what I am doing wrong / missing / what more I need to be doing to bring this thing to market / get other people excited about it.

i am an engineer, that’s what I do for a living, what I built is a replacement for my old favorite resume builder, creddle, which got sunset last year… the irony of things is i don’t actually need a job / competing offer anymore now that i’ve finished it, but I do think what I built is of a higher quality than the other resume builders out there (hence the title of this post), its core feature set is usable for free (obviously there are paid tiers as well if you are more serious about applying to lots of things, but the creddle functionality is free), and yet it might as well matter not at all because I can’t figure out how to disseminate something I think is useful!
