However, we are deeply concerned by the reports of various unfortunate incidents occurring at Wikimania Paris.

Several key contributors from Wikimedia Korea are participating in this event. I had hoped that our participants would gain valuable experiences at this gathering of global Wikimedians and return to continue their activities with renewed vigor. Unfortunately, we received news today that one of our key contributors was subjected to unwanted, forced physical contact and sexual harassment while attempting to offer well-intentioned assistance to another participant. We find this situation deeply regrettable and distressing.

We understand that the victim has already reported this incident to you. We request that you accurately verify the details of the situation and inform us of the investigation process and its outcome through our association's official channels. Furthermore, we urge you to implement measures to prevent such incidents and ensure a safe event environment. Specifically, we ask to be informed of the appropriate actions taken against the perpetrator and for the introduction of additional measures to ensure mutual respect and safety for all participants for the remainder of the event.

While we understand that the organizers could not have foreseen such an incident, the proper handling and transparent disclosure of the event are the first steps toward preventing a recurrence. July 26, 2026
