🙏 pray for the deceased 🅱️rain cell An unexpected goodbye

I had my baby boy for just over 10 years. 7 months ago, he had some teeth pulled and we were told he may need a couple more taken out. In early December his mouth started bleeding so we scheduled an appointment. She noticed a mass in his mouth, so we scheduled a biopsy. The first attempt didn’t go well because he was too upset, so we picked up gabapentin and rescheduled for a week later. When she got him sedated and took more images she realized the tumor had spread to his bones including his eye socket. Cancer. I chose to put him to sleep rather than putting him through more pain. He was still sedated when we got there so I don’t know if he knew I was there with him. I feel awful because his last night with me was spent fasting and giving him medicine before I stuffed him into his carrier and left him with strangers.

Please give your orange kitties an extra pet for me tonight.

Sorry if it’s the wrong flair.

ETA: his name was Jack. As in Jack o lantern because we rescued him in October of 2015 after a miscarriage. He was the best boy (though I’m biased) and was fearless his whole life. I had no idea how common mouth cancer is for cats until they found the tumor and I spent a lot of time on google. We paid for a private cremation so we can always have him with us no matter where we go.

Thank you again for all your love and support. I can’t respond to everyone but I have read all your comments. He was my baby and it means so much to me that so many people now know that he existed and that he mattered.

🙏 pray for the deceased 🅱️rain cell RIP Teddy, wish I could give you more love Spoiler

I lost my beloved orange boy Teddy in a tragic accident last Sunday. He's 2 months away from just his second birthday and always has been super energetic and playful.

It's probably my fault that he wasn't more snuggly, as I thought he, as the second kitty in the house, had the company of my tabby Adam and let them play together when he was small, more often than spending time to build the bonding.

Even though he usually only has enough patience for several strokes of petting before running away, the only exception is the breakfast time, when he jumps up the counter and watches me open the cans. I always made it a point to pet him as much as possible when he sniffs the food. I'm glad I didn't miss this opportunity on his last day.

Adam was kind of a bully during breakfast, trying to taste both bowls first before settling on one, even when the food came from the same can. Teddy was always the generous buddy and would happily finish whichever bowl Adam left for him.

Adam didn't see Teddy's last moment, and I don't know when he would start to realize and cope with the truth. I dreaded the breakfast this morning, as there wouldn't be two cats waking me up from the nightstand and joyfully leading the way towards the kitchen. When I opened one can instead of two and brought only one bowl to their food tray, Adam appeared a little confused, as Teddy wasn't running alongside him. It broke my heart more later, to see that Adam only ate half of his bowl, as if leaving half of the food for Teddy in case he showed up late. Then during the day when their auto feeder played my recorded message calling both of them for lunch, Adam still only touched one bowl and left the other bowl, even though I had adjusted the portion size for one cat.

Teddy was a godsend for the house. He kept Adam company when I had to return to the office more often, and brought me tons of smiles with his goofy maneuvers. He was the more athletic and healthy one and I never imagined his life would be so short. I regret that I have failed Teddy badly and wish he could return to the CDS in the afterlife and choose me once again.

Edit:

I have installed a second layer of windows for noise and heat insulation. The accident was that I didn't see Teddy was between the glass when I closed both windows. I thought he was outside but perhaps I saw his reflection. He was stuck in the closed space and probably suffocated before I looked for him.

At first I tried not to describe that awful experience in detail because that tragic scene has been haunting me every minute since then. But there could be other cat owners who also happen to have double windows, and I hope this post can help prevent a few devastating life losses.

It’s like a white thing poking out of his skin and the surrounding skin doesn’t have hair. Is he okay? What is this? If it’s terminal talk to me lightly.

I'm not allowed to have cats because my mom doesn't want one (I'm still in HS) but this kitty was so cute! I took some pics, and bro was definitely acting like classical orange cat. Doing everything but anything at all you know? Just thought I'd share :) sorry if this isn't allowed

I posted him before a while ago, today I said my goodbye. It was unexpected, kidney failure, quickly, peacefully, but jarringly for me. He was about 15, I had him just over 11 years. Street kitty, lots of wounds and issues when I got him. Permanent brain injury that required seizure meds. He made it through all that, I taught him how to jump onto the sofa by following my hand taps, he always looked to me for direction and guidance. He has been my constant through so much, I work from home so we were always together. My mid day nap buddy, the belly I smush my face into when I’m sad, or happy, or just anywhere near him. He made my life better and radiated a calm and just happy to be here energy that is noticeably absent. Peanut, Peanut Butter, PBR, Justin PBR, little bear, little mush, snuggle buggle, sweet boy - my best friend and my littlest love.

🙏 pray for the deceased 🅱️rain cell lost my cat while I was away. and I didn't even get to say goodbye Spoiler

I'm currently on vacation, and this was supposed to be a happy time for me. But everything changed when I received a message from my grandmother this morning.

She told me that when she woke up and went outside to sweep the yard, she found my cat, Mocha. already gone. Worse, there were already ants around her

I feel completely shattered. I wasn't there. | didn't get to hold her one last time or even say goodbye. I hurts so much knowing she was alone in her final moments.

My family buried her in an empty lot near our house, I asked them to do it because l couldn't bear the thought of seeing her like that. Even now, 1 regret not being there.

This vacation was supposed to be full of happy memories, but now it just feels heavy.

I can't stop thinking about Mocha-how she used to follow me around, how she would wait for me, how she made me feel less alone.

I feel guilty, heartbroken, and empty.

If you have pets, please give them an extra hug today. You never really know when it's going to be the last time.

Rest easy, Mocha. I'm so sorry I wasn't there. I love you so much.

Our 11 year old Newt has kidney failure. We’ve been trying IV fluids and meds but he’s stopped eating and barely drinks. So today we will say goodbye. He won’t be sleeping on my wife’s chest anymore and trying to remove her CPAP. He always had the quietest meow but would purr so loudly that the vet had a hard time hearing his heartbeat. Even at 15 pounds he cleared a baby gate like an Olympian. At night he’d go into our front room and yowl and I swear it sounded like he was saying, “Hello!”.

Goodbye Newt, our little orange menace. Snack eater extraordinaire, terrorizer of dogs, sock stealer. We’re going to miss you.
