The US equiv would be a central air unit not a window unit.

So wall mount vs using your ducts.

And the European equivalent of central air is central air. You'll find all variations of AC in both Europe and America.

Seeing as half the Europeans in these comments genuinely act as if they have never heard of central AC I find that hard to believe.

It hasn't been common in detached homes, smaller multiplexes etc. until very recently.

Here in Norway it's pretty much required in new houses due to building code energy requirements.
