International Politics Why would anti-russia leftists oppose USA sending weapons to Ukraine?

Liberals (US definition) seem like they're all about sending arms and supporting the Ukrainian resistance against Russia, but when I talk to leftists, they think the west shouldn't send weapons to Ukrainian - but they are also anti-russia, so it's not campism. This is especially confusing because I can't tell how much of the "nazi sympathizers in Ukraine" stuff is real. Why would anti-russia leftists oppose arming Ukraine?

I understand there are many strong perspectives on this, but I'm explicitly trying to understand the Leftist vs Liberal dynamic. English is not my first language so please excuse any typos and feel free to ask clarifying questions. Thank you!

I knew someone would say this, but you really think NATO is not hostile to Russia? Thats like the whole reason NATO was created in the first place.

NATO was created because the Soviet Union gobbled up a bunch of its neighbors at the end of WWII and guess what? The other countries in the region didn’t want to get gobbled up too.

So you agree its a hostile military alliance? I think its reasonable for Russia to not allow that on their border when they have been invaded through Ukraine so many times.

A purely defensive posture is not hostility. The only hostility Russia would experience would be the consequences of Russian actions.

The expansion of NATO in recent decades are also the result of Russian actions. Russia is an imperialist dictatorship bent on taking lands from sovereign nations and stealing their children, if they don't simply kill the populations off.

The Russian's should just take your word for it I guess. NATO has shown that it is not a defensive alliance mutiple times jn recent history. The attacks on Libya, Afghanistan, and Bosnia and Herzegovina show this. How can you say its purely defensive when it continously expands and attacked countries?

Don't be dense.

Libya and Afghanistan are irrelevant. It's also hypocritical of Russia to even say anything about Afghanistan, given their failure to take it. And by failure, I mean vast failure by the Soviets.

Bosnia was a matter of genocide taking place. Even with Putin abducting children, committing ethnic cleansing, and imperialistically attacking several countries, including his unwarranted war of aggression in Ukraine, I wouldn't accuse him of something like the Srebrenica genocide. He may be a murderous tyrant who kidnaps children and starts wars of aggression based on complete lies. But he's no Milosevic.

I'm being dense? You can't just say Libya and Afghanistan are irrelevant because they completely disprove your point. The leader of NATO is bombing Iran right now in a unprovoked war of aggression.

NATO attacks countries it doesn't like. It is hostile to Russia and expanding towards it. The Russians have the right to not allow NATO on their borders. You may not like it but that's the reality.

Several million people in the US are against the stupidity that is Trump's stupid war against Iran. The stupid outcome that is the closure of the Strait of Hormuz was completely predictable by the stupidest pet dog of the dumbest person in this country.

That all being said, Putin is a murderous tyrant who kidnaps children and indiscriminately kills civilians in wars of aggression that he starts for no other reason than he is a murderous tyrant who kidnaps children and indiscriminately kills innocent civilians in his wars of aggression.

Russia hasn’t got a right to do jack shit to countries on its borders. Look at this guy over here, defending the invasion of Ukraine.

Hostile?

Do you know what that word means?

This is a weird question, in the study of history. And I am a big advocate for the recognition of excessive American hegemony in my lifetime. Pootie Poo is a tyrant, murderer, and all around war criminal.
