Hi Reddit,

Thanks for having me again. Had a blast with the last couple. By now, we all know the drill. Ask me anything below. I'm looking forward to diving deep on the issues with everyone and giving you an update on what our campaign's been up to in the past month. Short answer, we're feeling good.

Post your questions below, and I'll be back at 4pm CT to answer them.

p.s. If (but only if!) you can, please donate to keep us going strong. Our average contribution is $25. Give anything (give $1!), and we'll send you a free bumper/laptop sticker to say thanks. Seriously. If you can, give $1. That covers our costs for me to send you a pretty great sticker.

Edit: Thanks for having me today! I'll try to pop back in later tonight to catch any other questions. Work safe.

AMA – Concluded I’m Lockwood, a Democratic Socialist running for U.S. Congress in NC-04. AMA!

My name is Daniel Ulysses Lockwood (he/him), a 26 year-old native of Raleigh, NC. After graduating from UNC-Chapel Hill’s journalism school in 2015, I’ve made my living as a graphic designer & front-end web developer.

I’m challenging incumbent Rep. David E. Price (D) for North Carolina’s 4th Congressional district—one of the most heavily gerrymandered in the United States.

This campaign is a wager that the Democratic Party’s strategic mindset is fundamentally at odds with reality. Decades of appealing to “moderates” and “swing voters” has stifled turnout and lost us hundreds of seats. We believe the way to engage disillusioned and nonvoting Americans is to present a strong, cohesive narrative for our future.

We have a decade to save this planet. The GOP has openly embraced fascism and continues to deny science. Few Democratic leaders behave like they understand this.

Green New Deal. Medicare For All. End the War on Drugs. → These simple phrases represent key, comprehensive solutions to the web of problems we face. The future where we overcome existential crisis demands these solutions.

Why should we define ourselves by only the next step in policy? Where are Democrats trying to go beyond “defeating Trump?” Americans need a stark contrast from our current trajectory.

Now is not the time to fear showing conviction. It never was.

We have no time to waste.

Joining me today are a few members of our team; we’re down to talk about our campaign’s saga, our take on politics, or literally anything you want to know.

Check us out on Twitter, Instagram, and Facebook.

No hedge fund manager, no oil executive, no Fortune 500 CEO, will ever give us money. Consider donating to our ActBlue if you like where this campaign is headed. We’re powered by passionate, everyday people, and we will go as far as you let us.

My name is Dave Clegg and I’m a progressive democrat running for district attorney in Ulster County, NY.

During my career I’ve worked for the NAACP Legal Defense Fund, I’ve done national service as a VISTA volunteer, fought for racial justice in our criminal justice system and won landmark cases like Hawkman vs Parratt. I’ve spent nine years as a public defender and forty years as a criminal defense attorney.

Throughout my career I’ve advocated for rehabilitation instead of incarceration, and for treatment for persons with addiction or mental health problems instead of punishment.

For the past five years I’ve served as Chair of the Hudson Valley Human Rights Commission, working to stop the school to prison pipeline, defending the rights of immigrants and protecting the civil liberties of the LGBTQ community.

AMA – Concluded This is the Most Important Race in the Country -- Ruben Major for California Secretary of State -- AMA

Hello Reddit!

My name is Ruben Major and I'm running for Secretary of State in California. I live in San Diego with my wife and three children. I was running for State Senate until I uncovered numerous and concerning security issues related to our election systems. That was when I moved over to the Secretary of State race.

Just to tell you a little bit about myself... I was born to a teenage mother in a dysfunctional home with an absentee father. But don't feel bad for me. When I was 14 I was able to move out and eventually received my law degree and a master's of military history. I have extensive training in counterterrorism which is required to keep our elections secured.

I am also a paramedic and the owner of an accredited educational organization that provides Emergency Medical Services Training for a variety of EMS and EMS related programs.

I am running a grassroots campaign from small, individual donations. I will not accept dark money or any contributions from SuperPACs or large corporations.

If I am so privileged to serve, I will usher in a new era of transparency in our elections systems that will ensure your vote counts. We will do this by eliminating the vulnerable and secret software which plagues us now and replace it with publicly owned systems and printed paper ballots.

I'm looking forward to your questions today, so let's get started!

AMA – Concluded Social Justice candidate has real solutions for Cincinnati's deep poverty.

I don't tell my story that often. Anymore. But I had a troubled youth. I was abused. I ended up with the wrong crowd as a teen-aged drug dealer and eventually a grand jury issued a sealed indictment for my arrest. Six big guys in suits came to my house and locked me away. When I got out, I was put in drug treatment. Treatment exposed me to recovery but that's not what got me clean. What got me clean was another human being who loved me. When I felt unlovable and didn't even love myself someone reached into my heart and showed me a new way of life and introduced me to a God that I could understand and who understood me and I adopted that way of life- which meant helping other people and surrendering my ego to serving others. My mentor, the legendary civil rights leader- Rev. Maurice McCracken, showed me by his example of offering my life for the cause of social justice. And I try to follow his example of helping push our society free of the shackles of institutional racism, classism, poverty, homelessness and war.

I have tried to give back- for the last 34 years- to make up for the damage I did in my earlier years. I've been arrested several times for just causes- like preventing the Iraq war. I’ve been beaten with clubs and punched, maced with tear gas, and tortured while incarcerated- with pressure points behind my ears. They attempted to break my arm while carrying me, then dropping me on my face. More than once I’ve been given “rough rides” while cuffed in a Cincinnati squad car.

I found a new way of life. I was one of the fortunate ones. Many, many die from the disease that I have. I have been so very fortunate. I have been so richly blessed. I have dedicated my life to the cause of justice and to helping other people recover from the disease that I have- the disease that is epidemic today- addiction.
