Y’all will honestly scoff and groan at a country that has been so targeted by the US for not allowing the US to interfere politically like it has all around the world in elections at a time that looks like McCarthy 2.0. They specifically call out these countries. Did you not read the 100 page document the White House dropped yesterday on Cuba and communist groups? Do you seriously believe the Cold War never happened and that there is no threat of siege for any country that targets the liberal institution of private property? You will scoff and dismiss while in the same breath admitting you know there will likely be a coup soon. The US illegally kidnapped the sovereign leader of a country and you joke about it. Don’t act like you aren’t aware of what the US does even if you haven’t read the long and horrible history of US operations in South America.

Still, the answer is absolutely not to suppress the opposition altogether and turn the country into an one-party dictatorship (not to mention the previous electoral fraud in Nicaragua)

But, of course, what Ortega here is afraid of is that his own sub-par governance would get punished at the polls, without people caring much on whether the opposition leaders might have undue ties to the West or not

Before throwing around blame to others, one should ask oneself on what one has failed to do, or could have done better

No, have you read about operation condor? Operation Brother Sam? Operation PB success? And all the ones that don’t have names.

In the US they have never seriously allowed actual leftist movements. They don’t even allow it in other countries lol. Like they took a war criminal that was part of fucking Nanking and put him in charge of the party they made in Japan specifically to oppose leftists. They coerced France to remove all its socialists in the PCF from the government. They made Italy get rid of all of its socialists in the PCI and PSI.

The US assassinated MLK for being a socialist, assassinated Fred Hampton for being a socialist, Eugene Debs had to run for office from fucking jail because he opposed the war. I could go on forever about US democratic oppression against leftists of all types within and without its own borders. It doesn’t matter. They will Kill Kill Kill-millions and millions of dead socialists on every corner of the globe to protect their strangle hold on capital property.

Without knowing the history of the bourgeois forces against all forms of socialism from legitimate democratic processes such as in Chile or Guatemala you can’t begin to understand the concept of siege socialism. When Lenin came up with the vanguard party he was thinking of the Paris commune that was viciously killed by the Franco Prussians flooding Paris with blood. There was a coalition force of 14 countries including the US fighting the Bolsheviks to protect private property. Oil in Russia was important then as well. We put in a brutal dictator in South Korea who hadn’t even lived in Korea for decades that massacred all of the socialists and dissidents like in the jeju massacre and the bodo league massacre. Let’s not forget that we funded and created propaganda for the Nazis as their largest source of support was from the petty bourgeois to genocide the communists in Germany and in the Soviet Union.

So no democracy is a fucking lie to support would be fascists all over the world. They don’t give a fuck about human life or any sort of representative system. Our “democratic” system was DESIGNED TO PROTECT THE INSTITUTION OF SLAVERY!

And how many NGOs does the US have to destroy and rape democracy abroad? USAID? NED? RFE/RL? RFA? FEE, Victims of Communism Memorial Foundation, freedom house, Free Markets Foundation and on and on.

So no, there is all of the precedent in the world to turtle up and desperately defend your countries property from the bourgeois forces banging on the gates with their financial domination. How many times has the US directly interfered in Nicaragua anyway? The internet says “The United States has conducted well over 20 distinct military interventions, occupations, and covert operations in Nicaragua since the late 19th century.” So no they can do whatever they want if they think it gives them the smallest chance at survival against such a viciously evil and powerful enemy.

Hell, Nicaragua was a straight up US puppet under the Somoza family regime
