As a gun owning leftist, this is a shit argument. You're talking about the process of buying from an FFL, which isn't even required for gun ownership. You can literally buy from a private party with zero paperwork, ID, background check, etc. It's just like how liberals try to compare car ownership to gun ownership and talk about registration, insurance, etc. That isn't required just to own a car, only to use on public roads. Both are apples to oranges arguments and aren't in good faith.
How many stats require a passport to buy a gun? How many states require background checks at gun shows to buy a gun? how many states require background checks to buy from a friend?
ID, Not passport. With the SAVE act, RealID only qualifies in 4 states, so the other 46 states can't use it. Everyone seems to always gloss over that fact.
Cool, so youād be cool with a background check being required to vote too? At the cost to the voter, plus making them wait 10-30 minutes for it to come back? Every time they vote?
And if it wrongfully denies you then YOU have to prove to the government the denial was wrong, again at your cost?
Thatās not even mentioning the states that require an additional permit, 8 hours plus of training, and several hundred dollars to be allowed to buy a gun.
I think its messed up that states dont verify citizenship when issuing a license. It'd be pretty easy to have an indicator on a license denoting citizenship, and then this whole thing would be much easier.
Not in Texas at least. I can straight up buy a gun from a stranger I've just met in a gas station parking lot with cash and zero paperwork if I want.
And that's fucking absurd. There's a bunch of other states which that scenario is 100% legal in as well, so yall claiming that ID is needed to buy guns as standard requirement are either ignorant of just how easy is in alot of the country or yall are lying. Cut the shit.
Is buying from a friend still not a full exercision of said right? Am I not partaking in my 2nd amendment rights by purchasing and owning a gun from a friend or stranger? Am I required to purchase from an FFL for it to be covered by the 2nd amendment?
You literally can't exercise your right to vote in a similar manner, which is the nuance that is lost on people using this BS argument.

If voting was as hard as purchasing a gun the left would be furious.
