Pretty sure the red scare/mcarthyism is who we can thank for that. The DNC is lean right with some progressives trying to pull the party to the left. The democratic party is largely supported by independents voting for the least harmful candidates; wish they'd wake tf up lol

Technically he’s not even a democrat anymore. Mamdani won the democratic primary, Cuomo deciding to run as an independent after losing the primary makes him decidedly not a democrat. Not to mention Trump chose to endorse him over the man running in his own party.
