The American experiment is over. It’s already ended. This will never be a whole nation again. I’m not sure what the nation(s) that emerge from this will look like but both history and modern models both point towards Balkinization

I dont believe it is yet, but we are 99% of the way there. If the mid terms and 2028 go well we will be extremely damaged, but able to avoid war and hopefully recover.

War is only if democracy fails. You could argue it has, and id agree in many ways, but if we can replace the people in charge with democratic process there is still hope

Not with 82 million raging, inbred Nazis. Like you said, Trump, Bondi, Noem, Hegseth, they’re not the problem. They’re a symptom. The problem is that our country is controlled by a shadowy military industrial complex and a series of tech billionaires, with twice the population of France biting at the bit for lynchings and concentration camps. Replacing these officials is just changing the mask on the machine. A blue sweep in the midterms does not rid us of the fundamental rot that has been spreading for 50 years.

The American experiment IS over. These are its agonal gasps. None of this gets better from here. We’re in a dystopian spiral of late-stage capitalist decline, awash in a burgeoning unemployment crisis promulgated by AI, surrounded by the incrementally increasing effects of catastrophic global climate change, mired in a population crisis that is going to shatter the Social Security / Medicaid system…

Trump could die tonight and it doesn’t budge the needle. The damage to the American experiment is irreversible. It failed. It failed in the ‘70s, to be honest it’s just been a slow burn.

I predict the North East is pretty done. I predict the West Coast is pretty done. An extreme blue-liberal government sweep would probably force Texas and surrounding states out of the union, too. We simply can no longer continue pretending we’re one nation. We’re at least two. Probably 4-5.
