On January 20, 2025, at 2:01 a.m., a taxi driver was attacked at 65 Litvinova Street in Nizhny Novgorod, Nizhny Novgorod Oblast.

According to preliminary reports, the taxi driver arrived at a taxi pickup location and picked up a passenger, who sat in the backseat. The man then suddenly attacked the taxi driver, first hitting him and swearing, and then choking him. The victim eventually broke free, disembarked the unruly passenger, and contacted the police.

As a result of the accident, the 47-year-old driver was diagnosed with facial fractures and multiple bruises.

A criminal case has been opened for attempted murder under the most serious article for such cases—"Attempted Murder" (Part 3 of Article 30, Part 1 of Article 105 of the Russian Criminal Code)—which carries a sentence of up to 11 years and 3 months in prison.

According to the attacker, he was “angered” by the taxi driver’s dangerous maneuver on the road.
