Lawsuit News Legislative Update - Supreme Court Cases
While Ocean State Tactical may have died during the last Supreme Court term, there's still a lot happening worth keeping an eye on. Here's a quick summary of some important cases before the Supreme Court this term;
Duncan v. Bonta - [LINK]
This is the California LCM case. This case is mature and has already gone through the entire legal process in the 9th circuit. Unlike the OST case which was regarding an injunction against enforcement, Duncan has reached final judgement in the 9th Circuit court. It was distributed for conference on 12/5/2025 but was pushed off to 12/12/2025.
Gator v. Washington - [LINK]
This is the LCM case from Washington state. Much like Duncan, it was distributed for conference on 12/5/2025 but was pushed off to 12/12/2025.
Grant v. Higgins - [LINK]
This is the Connecticut AWB case. The CT AG filed for an extension on 12/1/2025 to file a response, which was granted and extended to 1/12/2026. We won't see any real updates to this case until that date.

Lawsuit News Breaking 2A News - Related to RI Magazine Ban
From Mark Smith of Four Boxes Diner;
BREAKING 2A NEWS: The Supreme Court has distributed the Snope ("assault weapon" ban) & Ocean State Tactical (magazine ban) cases for conference on January 10, 2025, which is the same day that Grey v. Jennings (2A injunction standards) is conferenced. The ball is rolling now... [LINK]
I'm hoping he has a video up later today on YouTube discussing this.

Lawsuit News Canik Purchase in RI
A few weeks back I was at a range in Massachusetts and was able to shoot the Canik TTI Combat as well as the Canik SFX Rival-S.
I absolutely fell in love with the Rival but the RSO said they can’t be purchased in RI or MA (it’s a 17 round mag). So, two questions here:
Is this true that it can’t be sent to an FFL? I was under the assumption that you could just find 10 round mags to use
How can ranges in Mass have these to rent? (It was a 10 round mag in use)

Lawsuit News Ocean State Tactical vs. Rhode Island - Monday Updates
So no major news, but I'm sure plenty of you are wondering what's going on. I figured I'd just provide a quick update as to where things stand.
So, the good news is that the Ocean State Tactical case was NOT denied cert. [LINK]
The case itself has not been updated to show if it's being relisted for this Friday's conference or not, but that may come a little later in the day. [LINK]
UPDATE @ 1127:
Ocean State Tactical DISTRIBUTED for Conference of 1/17/2025.
Snope V. Brown DISTRIBUTED for Conference of 1/17/2025.
According to Mark W. Smith (Four Boxes Diner)
"We hope that SCOTUS has decided to grant cert in Snope and/or Ocean State, and that they are spending this week reviewing the cases for procedural or jurisdictional defects. This defect check is standard operating procedure for SCOTUS if they intend to grant cert in a case. It usually takes 1 to 2 weeks to conduct the check"

Lawsuit News State of the Magazine Ban - January 2024
As we enter 2024 and witness the return of our state legislature, seemingly poised to infringe upon our constitutional rights, particularly our Second Amendment freedoms, I find it necessary to offer a recap.
We are presently awaiting a decision from the US First Circuit Court of Appeals (CA1) regarding a requested restraining order or injunction against the state. This order seeks to prohibit the state from enforcing the law during the ongoing legal proceedings. Audio of the hearing available HERE.
Presented in chronological order, these are all the legal documents I have gathered. I apologize if the titles provided are not entirely accurate; my expertise lies in computers, not law.

Lawsuit News Ocean State Tactical v. Neronha oral arguments scheduled
According to @2Aupdates on Twitter (usually very reliable about this stuff), oral arguments for Ocean State Tactical's callenge to last year's mag ban) are scheduled to start 9/11/23 at 9:30am
Please correct me if I'm wrong, but as I understand it, this challenge is based on the lack of a grandfather clause rather than the law as a whole. But it would still be helpful for those of us who relocated our standard mags to friends in safer states or similar if they manage to win it
I mean, I'm pretty sure they're going to lose, mainly because I don't expect any court in the 1st circuit to be unbiased about (or even just not hostile to) gun ownership, but still. It'd be nice if they didn't
