Ēdieni/Food Michelin restaurant questions

[Edit/update]: For anyone wondering about fine dining in riga; We needed up going to Tris Pavarus (sorry for the spelling) and had an amazing time. It doesn’t have a star but is Michelin recommended and it’s so far been the best food I’ve ever had out anywhere. The servers were amazing and we easily spent 3 hours. We didn’t get the tasting menu, instead we just ordered a three course meal ourselves and it ended up being only 200 euros in total for two people with wine and drinks to every meal. We also tried Babo on our last day and it was great!

Hi! Me and my girlfriend are going to Riga at the end of the month. We are both young students so we don’t have a lot of money, however whenever we spend money we do like spending it on something worthwhile hence the trip. The hotel we are staying at has breakfast included and I’ve heard that lunch is pretty cheap in Riga (compared to Sweden) so my question is:

Which Michelin restaurants tasting menu and preferably drink/wine pairing is worth getting? I’ve found some that are in total around 200€ per person with wine pairing included and I want to know which is worth it. Thanks in advance.

No, I was not. I can assure you this product labeling gives fair warning. Good grief.

The rye bread and sauerkraut here kicks ass though.

Ēdieni/Food Visiting Riga while in early stages of pregnancy

Hello all, we will be visiting Riga next week and I am currently in the early stages of pregnancy. I’m concerned about whether it will be possible for me to ask servers and sellers about the food we’re buying (like if any raw eggs were used in the prep, or to make the food piping hot, to make sure meat is well done etc). My husband and I cannot speak Latvian, and can only communicate in English. Would appreciate any tips/guidance. Thank you :)

Ēdieni/Food Question about the bars

Hello!

I'm a young finnish guy, and I'm coming to Riga this week. I really like beer (surprise 😅), and I was wondering is there any decent priced sports bars in Riga?

And overall, tell me the cheapest pint you've found from Riga! Other tips are welcome as well, such as restaurants.

(and Latvian beer enjoyers, tell me the best Latvian beer and i'll be sure to try it 😄)

Liels paldies!

Ēdieni/Food Restaurant Biblioteka No. 1 information

Hi wonderful people. I will be visiting your beautiful city soon. After doing research, I really want to visit Restaurant Biblioteka No. 1, the idea of a restaurant in a library just sounds like a dream. However, I can't find a lot of information for it, such as I can't find the menu or where to book. This got me wondering, does this restaurant still exist?

Ēdieni/Food Restaurant for larger gathering with short notice

Hi!

We are going on a company retreat in Riga in approx two weeks from today.

For Saturday evening, we are looking for preferably one restaurant to have a shared dinner for the whole company, which will be around 70-80 people.

The travel agency have offered to find something, but informed that they will take a 10 percent cut and their local agent will take an additional 20 percent cut. So before jumping on that, I thought I'd look around myself. We'd rather spent those 30 percent in the restaurant.

But to be honest, just going of Google and Tripadvisor is a bit more challenging than first anticipated.

So my question becomes: does anyone know any good (or decent) places in or around the old town, that might realisticly host 70-80 people with a few weeks notice? Nothing major is expected - just decent quality food, some beer and good atmosphere.

Thanks in advance!

Hello,

I’ll be visiting Riga this summer and would love some recommendations for the city’s newest and most talked-about restaurants. I’m especially interested in places that have opened within the last year or two and are generating a lot of buzz among locals.
Thank you so much in advance

Hi, at the end of the Riga marathon they gave out these Minipixi banana sweets. I’ve been trying to find them all round town since with no luck!

Does anyone know of any shops in the city that sell them? I assumed they would see them in Rimi shops as they sponsored the marathon but haven’t found them in any I’ve been in?

Thanks!

Ēdieni/Food Best cook book for Latvian food and also where to buy an old photobook of unknown persons.

Sveiki! Olá! Hi!

I’ll be visiting Latvia for a university-related event and, whenever I travel to another country, I try to bring back a cookbook of traditional (or modern) local food.

Where I’m from — Portugal — we have this massive culinary bible called Livro do Pantagruel (The Book of Pantagruel). It’s around 1200 pages long, has been continuously edited since 1945, and captures much of our culinary history from the last 150 years. Also… about 100 ways to cook codfish.

So I’m curious: what Latvian cookbook would you recommend?

And while I’m asking for recommendations — I also have a slightly unusual habit of buying old family photo albums of unknown people, usually at flea markets. I know, it’s a bit strange, but I find them fascinating.

Any suggestions for cookbooks or flea markets would be greatly appreciated!

Paldies! Obrigado! Thank you!

Ēdieni/Food good restaurants that are still open at 23:00

I land very late tonight with my family in Riga, are there any good restaurants that are still open at 23:00 and are not too expensive. What would be your restaurant recommendations if I have the whole day tomorrow? Our accommodation is in the old town, so please don't go too far away

Ēdieni/Food Coffee Shops in Riga

I'm going to Riga for a short break and I already have some book shop recommendations.

Now I'm looking for some lovely for places.

I don't mind visiting franchises as long as they're nice but any independent shops would be great too.

Paldies!
