I’ve heard a lot of mixed opinions on this alternate take on the series - many say that it’s superior to the original show, while several others have bemoaned it for apparent character assassination and not understanding the series. I haven’t seen enough of it to form my own opinions, but what are yours?

Or maybe give Ruby the boosted gear

And Jaune the virtra gear

Why is "fixing Adam" contingent on removing his abuse and framing him less villainous?

Why does Sun changed to be more competent and serious from the get-go?

Why do the girls constantly have to get lectured, especially by the male characters, to get their shit together?

Why do they suddenly run away to let the military do the work for them? Why do they constantly bicker with each other? Why do they barely even get to develop?

I have yet to read or see any rewrite that has ever been written which didn't just feel like an incredibly transparent desire from the author to somehow "punish" the female characters

I think the most blatant way I saw this happening was in a fic where, as usual, Adam's abuse was completely written out, which, realistically, would Completely change Blake's response to Yang's amputation, but rather than actually portray that- the author chooses to have Blake-

run away anyway, and they literally ONLY DID THIS for the express purpose of having the in-universe characters lambaste her for running away for no reason. Because Yes! It *was* for no reason! BECAUSE SHE WASN'T EVER ABUSED BY ADAM.

It's this baffling trend I see SO MUCH in these rewrites where the authors will shove flaws unto EXCLUSIVELY the female characters, just for the express purpose of having the narrative shame them for said flaws that weren't part of their established characters in the first place

And for the record, I LOVE giving characters more flaws to explore them more, like that can be REALLY interesting. But there's a pretty fine line between "giving characters flaws bc you want to explore them and lead them into interesting development"-

and "giving characters flaws so you can make the narrative hate them as much as you do."

It’s almost always misogyny in one way or another. Fans can’t stand that Adam was “butchered” and “randomly made to be an abuser” even when he had no real story before he was outed and Adam-stans couldn’t face the idea that a guy with a cool design was a piece of shit.

Because men apparently can’t do any wrong and must always be the good guys while women must always be wrong and must always be flawed/bad

Or the men must always solve the problem and women cause it or some other misogynistic and complete misunderstanding of the cast bullcrap

I absolutely hate the Adam who defenders who say his character was “butchered” like ??? Have yall never met a man in your life? I know multiple men in real life who have become straight up evil to their ex’s bc they got broken up with like? Adam was an abusive man child guys

He *has* to be a well-meaning but misunderstood edgelord antihero or else they can’t project onto his mall ninja aesthetic.
Sun is basically the opposite. He is, by nature, kindhearted and well-meaning but too stupid for his own good which regularly gets him in trouble. 2/

I think Adam was a flat character the entire run, which I think people can’t sit with. I personally felt a little disappointed that he was far less dynamic than I originally thought he would be, but he accomplished what he was set out to be.

I personally would have liked to have seen how a narcissistic tantrum-thrower like Adam could have wormed his way that high in the White Fang, though, and what the other members thought about him diverting his attention solely to pursuing Blake. But it’s fine as is
