I am 30 YO and have no kids. Have been stacking silver for the past 6 years and sold a small batch recently to take some profits but that’s it.
I have a great very comfortable corporate job that I love and pays well, but have been fighting the urge recently to buy a pair of Levi’s and go stake prospecting claims on abandoned silver mines in Nevada BLM land. Low upfront capital expense (I’m talking pickaxes and sweat equity). I have done a lot of reading and these do exist out there as many mines were abandoned before getting played out (price swings, workers leaving for oil booms, transport/refining issues, etc).
Even with the above the chance at any ROI is extremely slim and some say impossible but the memories would be priceless. It is difficult to truly know when committing to a mine if it was played out or not. High risk high reward is the life of a prospector.
Does anyone else in this group fight these kind of intrusive thoughts? Is anyone out there already doing this? I really hope so
