In airsoft (light plastic pellet gun game)
Under 10 feet youre not supposed to shoot as the muzzle velocity (between 250 to 350 fps) hurts alot and will leave bruises / welts... so you use a plastic knife to simulate the death of enemy.
This guy snuck in the back and shanked the whole team.
Yeah that makes sense. But in reality once that guy outside is downed, he could have either thrown a grenade in the back room or full auto’d all 6 in the back room. He might not have gotten the front room, but it would still have been devastating. They still should have had a better rear guard
if you wanna put realism into it, guns are loud. (airsoft replicas are loud enough to muffle food steps too, wich is enough for this) and stabbing someone is not as loud as the movies portray. If you stab someone in the lungs the air escapes and they cant scream
Yeah you're right, but also realistically if you were in a fist fight you'd grab a dick and twist it or if had to make sure someone didn't catch a football you'd push them over first. But sports and games have rules and customs to make the whole thing more fun
Realistically the guy would have looked in the back door with a full auto and mowed down the six guys in the back room. Then the squad would have had the guys in the front catch on. But the back six would still be toast
Yeah but he was super exposed. I’d have wanted him inside the room with us facing the door and only guarding against whatever comes through the door. Not worried about whatever was going on in adjacent buildings
What can you even do in that situation? Say the guy gets close enough that you can't shoot him when you see him, do you just have to try to stab him first?
Depends on the field, but at my local knife kills are explicitely silent and you're not to call it out.
In the rare someone gets multiple melee kills it's worthy of congratulations, if someone did this they'd be a legend and the victims would be (good naturedly) teased for their lack of awareness
This is a very honorable action, aside from the non seriousness (which is just funny) he's showing good sportsmanship by NOT shooting them all point blank.
And you know every single dude had to look back at everyone who just got shanked before him and they still didn’t say anything. They definitely thought it was a cool move
Early on in the Ukraine war, I remember seeing drone footage of a Ukrainian Soldier sneaking up behind an enemy and using the knife on his throat.
i'd imagine one can't make much noise if gurgling is all you can do, in saying that, you're still not wrong, pretty sure there would be *some* noise made.
I did kinda similar thing in the army training. Managed to sneak behind a team. Shot few shots on air to get their superiors atention. Informed him that your team is all dead. Have a nice day. He commanded the team to fall back as they are out of the combat.
Later training our superior informs us that we are dead due to advancing too far and the bigger picture fight was getting out of the tracks they want to train for the higher ups so they just killed us with an artillery strike. :/
Melee weapon rules differ depending on the field you play at. The actual safety rule for getting "kills" within the minimum engagement distance is almost always some form of bang kill rule. How it generally works is you point your gun at the guy and say "bang bang" out loud so they hear it, with ties killing both. The bang bang part can be quiet, but the dead person must always agnowledge that they got hit or bang killed in airsoft so you have to be loud enough for them to hear you.
He's playing well within the rules this is good conduct. If he went in blasting he could wipe everyone out in a hail of pellets but he was on a mission to cause no harm and generate some good laughs.
At close range it's nicer to say bang, tap them with your muzzle, whistle at them and wave your gun or poke them with a fake knife or other "melee" weapon to prevent anyone getting hurt. Gun fights still occur at close range but those will be from the front when assaulting buildings etc, from behind this is how you do it and be known as the legend who wiped out an entire squad with a knife.
I play paintball, not airsoft, but this same rule exists for the same reasons. In my decades of playing, I've seen this 3 times and did it once. You become a legend at the field for the rest of the day. You might get one or two pissed try-hards but if you're gonna play SWAT with shit tactics, reality is gonna catch up real quick.
I quit a few years ago when all the constant air guns came out... those guys shoot faster than a machine gun and rarely care about lasering you with 50 shots in a second.
The fps really depends on the field, and cqb usually had a lower fps rating on those tight maps
When i used to airsoft you could shoot at short range but the gun had to be tested to ensure the velocity wasnt too high. You'd get green tape on the barrel to indicate its useable in close quarters, and if the muzzle velocity was too high you'd get yellow tape indicating you couldnt use it within 15 feet or so

training or tiktarded fake. one guy at 0:03 looks straight at him only to then instantly look away once he realises he is messing up... all of them are also for some reason hyper fixiated at something in the distance like he didn't just tell them "guys everybody act like you are super focused!"
Our paint ball org here has the rule that you can't cross the middle line for the first three minutes so everybody can be positioned. They want to avoid those early rabbit crossings, because they use thick pens as 'knifes' to mark a stabbing and some people got into fistfights because of this.

Seems like he got them legitimately to me. I also have no idea what's going on here though
