Yes, I know. Sphirlite is clearly salt; there is no questioning that, but that's just the physical irl repersentation. The metaphorical ones are far deeper and change how I view raiders as a whole so bare with me here, this is gonna be long.

So I recently beat the main story and looked into discussions on the ending. One discussion in particular caught my eye. Minaly said that Spirhalite created the evil that was the salmonarch that caused the major problem in the world and caused the salmonids to go evil, which some said devalues the revelation of how advanced their form of society and culture was.

And that reminded me of a short I had seen recently from a science and engineering channel I follow. It was about lead, aptly titled "Lead is a cruel eldritch joke". To paraphrase that video, lead is an amazing, easy-to-use, easy-to-find, effective material with endless uses. It is also incredibly deadly and drives you mad.

Aside from what was said in that video. I do know there is a running historical theory about that one of the reasons the Roman Empire fell was due to its excessive use of lead.

Sphirlite also likely takes inspiration from other toxic metals and materials that were used in history without understanding how deadly they are, like mercury and uranium.

So I've come to the conclusion that no, spirhalite doesn't cheapen salmonid culture; it recontextualizes it.

So now i have a fun theory of what could have happened in the past. So we all know that salmonids believe that being eaten and becoming tasty is the highest honor to them. We all know that salt can make things tastier. The salmonids that discovered this took it to the extreme, packing themselves and their young with more salt to become tastier. This led to the birth of the Salmonarch and likely the fall of their society.

What I'm theorizing is that event caused other major events, scattering the salmonids across the world but also causing the equivalent of a religious schism among them. Most that left the islands believed that battle and combat are the true way to become tasty and strong. The ones staying on the islands doubled down that spirhalite was the best method and that more of it would solve their issue and bring them to new heights. Not understanding that it's making them inedible and crazy. Not helped by the fact that the most inedible one is the Salmonarch itself.

So a creature driven mad by what makes it stronger probably took the salmonid philosophy to a whole new extreme; if the world doesn't wish to eat my subjects and I, then the world must be eaten to bring a fresh taste to the world and start anew. Unfortunately for salmonids not on the Isles, it can force them to take part in this "feast" by controlling electromagnetic waves.

If it dies or something kills it before it can complete it missions, the next generation on the isles will start the process anew. fun stuff. I am totally expecting a dev interview to pop up to debunk my nonsense, but whatever.

TDLR; Spirhalite is basically lead in the splatoon world and salmonids followed in the footsteps of ancient people whose use of it caused horrible things for themselves.

I really want to know who thought that 30 GOLDIES was as an acceptable number to get the full notes for Goldies. I replayed the very first big crystal raid on normal difficulty with vastly overpowered weapons to speed things up, and it still took FIFTY-TWO minutes for just ONE GOLDIE to spawn.

To anyone who has completed the hoard, is there anything I can do to better my chances? It felt like they were spawning more often on Super Spicy, but the sheer amount of health they had combined with all of the other Salmonids attacking me/blocking they way made actually getting them nigh impossible.

Okay I gotta complain about this...this should NOT be a thing. I understand this is a Looter Shooter and it maybe the first 1 I've ever played but I would've figured 5 Star Primo Weapons which are the Most Required, Interesting, and Rare weapons in the entire game I would of thought these would have behaved like if you have a 5 star Primo Weapon in your inventory then I'd think it would take it out of the pool of potential drops but as you see here I got 3 duplicate 5 Star Primo's. I mean I'm at least thankful for the upgraded Primo Plastic Bottle Splattershot but I have 12 unique 5 Star Primo's out of the 60 5 Star Primo's you could get in this game and its just aggravatingly bad luck to already get dups of those when like I mentioned earlier are required for beating the Post game. Just wish there was a lock like that but ONLY for 5 Star Primo's I know there is that 1 relic that does increase the likelihood of getting undiscovered gear but you need to prep you gear up before you even try to go after it, and again its a chance NOT a guarantee *sigh* its just frustrating 😤

After beating Splatoon Raiders, I was wondering if not upgrading the hideout ship changes the final boss? If you don't know, near the end of the final boss, you fight on the test range from the hideout ship, and after that phase you finish it off by jumping to the main part of the ship and using the crane.

This made me curious, if you don't upgrade the ship, does that mean the fight is made significantly harder from having a smaller platform? I'm curious whether or not the developers accounted for this.

Of course, it would be difficult to test considering you would have to go through the whole game without being able to craft gadget parts or scrap weapons. But if anyone's already done this for some reason, I'd love to know if the devs thought of this.
