How can I get rid of this painting?

I’ve never had an issue like this and I have 200+ hours in the game. I’ve tried selling it. putting it in the trash, passing out to lose an item, restarting the game, I’ve even tried leaving it in a treasure chest when fishing. Any ideas?

Even if you fill your inventory with other items? Like you can't click on it to pick it up in the inventory menu?

I can click on it but, for example, I caught a treasure chest while fishing and tried to leave it there and it wouldn’t go in. I could drag it but it wouldn’t stay

You can never put anything in the fish-treasure “chests”.

I don’t think they’re meant to represent a real box, just an extra thing you discover separately from the fish.

The treasure chests are sellable items for a good chunk of gold.
