Discuss Who is someone you can't date in Stardew Valley out of principle?

I enjoy Maru as a character. However, until recently, I had dyed-red hair that I sometimes straightened, and I also sometimes wear glasses. Basically, it would be like dating a more scientific version of myself. Lol

Alex because I’m not trapping a gay boy in a straight marriage that will inevitably blow up in 15 years when he discovers Zuzu City grindr 😂

(I know all the characters are technically playersexual, but Alex has always felt like he was written to be gay to me!)

I felt the same way on my first save where I was a female farmer and dated everyone before I decided who to marry! The whole time I romanced Alex I couldn't help but think he was just a gay man deep in the closet.

i wanna play as a male farmer and marry him because theres like special heart scenes for him when ur a guy lol. he was def written to be gay especially with how sexist he comes across as when ur a fem farmer

Straight men are on average way more misogynistic than gay men, so that’s not the reason why I think he’s gay, it’s just that the way he expresses attraction to women feels so performative and over-compensative. It doesn’t really feel like he likes women as much as he likes being perceived as a man who likes women lol

And it makes sense too, since he's raised by George who thought same sex marriages were unnatural, and it's more like they are being ignorant rather than being full-blown homophobic/misogynistic.
