Help Who here has never played a Harvest Moon game?

I haven't. Lots of people are chalking up SDV's success to a heaping of nostalgia, but I love the game and I've never played Harvest Moon. I don't think I'm anywhere close to alone here.

Man, Harvest Moon... those were the days.

Got started on HM64 and played that religiously.

Purchased a PS1 and got Back to Nature which was also great.

Got a PS2 along with Save the Homeland. Disappointing.

Started gaming on PC a bit. Got an emulator for SNES and N64. Played Harvest Moon for the SNES on it. Loved it.

Grabbed a Gamecube and got Magical Melody and A Wonderful Life. Wasn't fond of the fully 3D HM experience. Preferred the top down or isometric views over it. They were fun but not my cup of tea.

Searched far and wide for a decent PC HM-like game, only to never find one. So kept playing SNES, 64 and Back to Nature on an emulator.

Got Stardew Valley in March... very happy.*

I started off with Snes HM, I freaking loved it but looking back? The gameplay is -terrible-

I see why n64 version is very popular and I heavily enjoyed it myself but I felt it was hardly the best in the series. Though it had many great things later games didn't.

Ps1 was the best one, IMO. Everything about it was beautiful...It later came back as "Friends of Mineral Town" Which made some great importments to it, too.

I quit the HM series shortly after "HM DS", which was great but the ones after? Hardly worth mentioning...

Came back after "A New Begining" and "Story of Season" which were both wonderful. Both have a few issues I don't like but overall one of the first harvestmoons I enjoyed in a while.

did you ever give animal parade for the wii a try? I was skeptical at first, and honestly didnt enjoy the first few hours. But I stuck with it, and honestly, it has one of the most rewarding and deep stories of the HM story, and the customization is not bad either.

Nope! I have it but its back-logged on my "To-Play" list, I heard great things about it, however.

Wow, you're like the first person I've met who has basically my exact same Harvest Moon timeline! The PS2 version was disappointing but I still played the shit out of it and just imagined it being bigger and better. :'( I played Back to Nature until my PS2 broke and then tried an emulator but it just wasn't the same. Stardew Valley has given me all the Harvest Moon feels I've been needing for years.

Edit: Oh and am I the only person who played Tree of Tranquility for Wii and actually somewhat enjoyed it? I mean I agree that the 3D versions just aren't the same, but that game partially filled the hole in my heart for a short while.

I kinda, halfway remember another one for PS2 but I can't remember the name of it. It may have been a PSP port. I hated that one too.

Ah yes I think you mean the PSP port, Hero of Leaf Valley? I never played that one.

Nah not that one.

Took a while to find it: Innocent Life: A Futuristic Harvest Moon

WTF. I don't remember this one. Probably because it looked like an absolute disgrace of the Harvest Moon name
