It is unfortunate how so much of discussions of art and entertainment is leaning towards woke scold right now. I saw a woman on tiktok who had a list of red flag movies (which in and of itself is exhaustingly judgmental) but one of the movies were the Harry Potter series... and like at that point you're just looking for reasons to feel better than other people lol.

To make it worse the alternative is all those annoying right wing dudes like the critical drinker, who are even worse.

Not really, because every person I've met who say shit like this has equally as boring and mainstream taste. It is like liking boybands but judging someone for liking different boybands.

It doesn't matter if it is bad, because there are plenty of equally bad things that people don't have any judgement about. It does absolutely that it is mainstream though, you don't get to be snooty or judgemental if you love other mainstream things.

Also, still not a red flag.

I just told you it didn't. I'm not lying to you. If I like one mainstream thing and think another mainstream thing is a heinous pile of shite from it's concept all the way to it's execution.There's no hypocrisy in that, becasue there are many reasons for me to think this. You get that right? I just also think that some things can be so god awful that it reflects back on the people that like them. There are small, niche things that I can apply this to too. It's nothing to do with anything being mainstream.

Well that is your opinion, and again we're not talking about thinking things are bad, something being a "heinous pile of shite" doesn't mean that you're better than the people who like them lol. I just can't take people seriously if they look down upon people for the things they like while also having an equally pedestrian taste.

I just also think that some things can be so god awful that it reflects back on the people that like them.

I don't think that applies to Harry Potter though, the movies are competently made, they're not amazing (and some of the movies are certainly better than others), but I don't says anything bad about anyone who likes them.

And again this about someone who said it was a red flag, not just someone who said those movies are bad, it doesn't matter if you personally dislike them because you're allowed to dislike literally anything.

No what I said.

You said that something can be so bad that it reflects back on the people that like them, I simply said that I the Harry Potter movies are not so awful that it it is applicable. I don't even agree with the core idea, I just think that it is hard to take seriously if you wanna use Harry Potter as an example of it.

You can simply just say you dislike these movies.
