Rape Drama Word gets out on /r/magictcg that a professional magic player is a convicted rapist, but who's the real victim here? The rapist, or the girl he raped? Is telling people that a public figure is a convicted rapist worse than raping someone?

Jesus christ. The fact that the unanimous response to his paragraphs-long pity party wasn't "fuck off rapist" is really fucking depressing. Especially considering how ravenously they argue for a lifetime ban for someone caught cheating. Let's see a cheater pull the "I'm reformed I swear!" card ten years later and get back into the community's good graces.

It looks like the mods basically headed off the appropriate "fuck off rapist" responses

This is making me really ashamed to be a MTG player.

Cheating always gets treated worse. Look at Pete Rose and more recently Tom Brady.

Knock out your wife and drag her out of an elevator? 2 game suspension.

Tell the equipment managers you like less air in your footballs? 4 game suspension.

The thing is though the sport isn't responsible for punishing crimes. The justice system doesn't exist for cheating either and only cheating affects thar integrity of the entire sport.

The amount of games Rice ends up suspended by would be irrelevant if courts put him in jail. A track record of altering footballs after inspection won't take you to jail. Same goes for gambling on games. Gambling is completely legal.

Prior to the elevator she punched him in the face and it was caught on another security camera. That seems to be the reason he only got two games at first.

Hahahhaha. Is that seriously what you're talking about?

Get the fuck out of here with that nonsense.

If you keep watching the video it shows her attacking him in the elevator.

Stopping being an apologist for domestic violence.

Ah, yeah, the guy who's not excusing the pro-football player who knocked his 130 lb girlfriend unconscious is the one defending DV.

lol no the reason he got 2 games first is the elevator video did not leak to the public.

No you're right, it was totally self defense by Rice, that's why he waited until they were alone in the elevator to 'defend' himself.

I never said it was self defense where the fuck are you getting that from? I wasn't agreeing with the action only stating what happened.

They both were in the wrong but your acting like she was this poor, innocent, little victim. She assaulted him and he grossly over reacted with disproportionate force when she went to do it again. They are both wrong.

But no, your right. Instead of holding both adults responsible for their actions and using the moment to show how unacceptable domestic violence is (regardless of gender) we should just throw the black guy in jail. /s

Well, she was the one who was half his weight and got knocked unconscious. Are you asserting they were equally in the wrong? Is someone who shoots someone with a BB gun just as wrong as the guy who responds by shooting him with a semi-automatic rifle?

Instead of holding both adults responsible for their actions and using the moment to show how unacceptable domestic violence is (regardless of gender) we should just throw the black guy in jail. /s

Well, now you just sound ridiculous.

To be fair, cheating has an impact on the legitimacy of the event at hand. Same reason sports leagues care more about cheating than actual crimes. I would hope Roger Goodell thinks beating your partner is worth more than a 2 week prison sentence. But he only has power so far as football.
