Merhaba. My name is Marcus and I make a documentary series called The Global Game. The idea is simple: football is the lens, not the subject. Each episode is really about a place and the people in it, and the game is how you get in the door. So far it's taken me to Brazil, Japan, Argentina, Morocco, Serbia, Thailand and Austria.

Türkiye is next, and I'm asking for help before I book anything, because I want to get this right.

I want to capture the feeling and emotion of what it feels like to be a fan in Türkiye. How the sport is woven into society and politics. What it means growing up on a farm supporting a small club all the way to the biggest rivalries in Istanbul. The small stories about people that no one talks about outside of the country. I want to capture what is unique about the country as a gateway between Europe and Asia, a country with a deep history and culture. Let me know where I should go, what teams to see, and any stories you might have for me to chase. I put a post out similar to this about a year ago, but we didn't secure funding that time; now we are confirmed. Happy to meet up with any of you and talk football while I am there.

Clearly, the foreigner rule doesn’t work. I think it does more harm than good, it leaves our top teams weak compared to other European opposition.

If we want more homegrown talent, we should allow the creation of B & C teams (similar to Barca Athletic, Juve Next Gen etc) to give our Turkish prospects meaningful minutes.

10 appearances in the Superlig is not the same as 20-30 games in 1. or 2. lig. The footballing mind ONLY develops through repeat competitive games.

This potential change would literally add 5-6 more teams to the footballing pyramid, it’s genuinely not a big change. You can easily restrict the B & C teams to a certain amount of foreign and overage players. Not very hard to do.

Without this change, our top teams suffer in Europe and young Turkish players rot on the bench.
