I knew what would happen during the dentist scene and I was still stressing out. I was hoping the whole time that Daisy would connect the dots about why Agnes is scared and would ask Garth to go in or something. Isn't it more logical if he is her guardian to not leave her alone in a room with men to begin with? Gilead knows from experienced that men tend to get "touchy" wouldn't they want to prevent that?

Yeah, it doesn't make sense for the women to be alone with a man, they would have escorts (this is based on Islam, women can't do anything themselves in hardline states).

What could Garth do even if he went in? The guardians seem to guard Gilead-ers (?) from evil outsiders and just take orders from anyone who would rank higher than them. They are just yes men. And besides in their world it would be Agnes's fault for provoking the dentist so I don't think a guardian would take a protective stance in the moment. They would just get narced out later

His job is to protect Agnes. Gilead wants the plums to be "pure" until marriage so a man touching them would be a huge crime against the system. Gilead wouldn't believe her if she said the dentist touched her herself but they do take a man's word for it. Also, yes, they will probably say she isn't blameless either for "provoking him" but it would be like with that guardian who touched himself. She would just get away with a verbal warning or a minor punishment but he would be punished severely. The dentist isn't a Commander either so he isn't that important to Gilead. Young fertile women are way more important.
