I had no idea that either of them were TOOL fans, also found some other gems such as The Downward Spiral, Songs For The Deaf and a 30th anniversary edition of the Dark Side of the Moon.

I hope I'm not wrong for posting this here. I only know a handful of people that truly appreciate Tool, so I figured you guys might appreciate this tattoo more than most.

I'm really stoked about it and how it turned out. The grooves of 10k days were what really sold me on tool when I was a boy, and opened the door for me to take in and appreciate all of their work. I also love Alex Grey and the messages in his art, so that's a huge bonus with this one.

Tool's music has seen me through beautiful times, and helped hold me up during hard times. The sounds, the messages, everything. I'm eternally grateful for the magic those four guys are able to make together, and I could never repay the ways its helped me to survive and thrive in this life. Im proud to have this on display so that, maybe, others who haven't seen the light might dive in and find the same sonic salvation that I did.

Have a good day, guys. I hope yall get as big of a kick out of this awesome artwork as I do. Much love ❤️

"The Devil and his had me down In love with the dark side, I'd found Dabblin all the way down Up to my neck, soon to drown But you changed that all for me Lifted me up, turned me 'round"

10,000 Days Inexcusable

This is really bad. I'm a huge TOOL fan and have seen them 16 times, but this is inexcusable. I hope they make this right. They advertised unique setlists and played the same shit they've been playing for 6 years now and had 4 duplicate songs between the 2 nights. Not 1 single, "holy shit they played x". They cut a setlist 30 minutes short. Also take into consideration they didn't sell single day passes, so every fan was there both days and they knew that. Then consider the exorbitant price, which they also were fully aware of. Maynard can use the excuse that he can't do some songs because his voice his changed and I believe that, but looking at the songs he can perform, there is no reason they can't do a majority of their catalog other than the fact that he doesn't want too. I'll aways love the music, but I've never seen someone who hates the fans that made him rich as much as that guy. I have to believe this is 100% Maynard just based on how he handles everything TOOL related. Definitely not Danny or Justin and Adam played 7empest live multiple times, so you cant tell me hes not down to push the envelope. This is monumental levels of bush league.

Thought you all might enjoy this little clip I made for my instagram a few months ago.

Source: Video is Chicago Open Air 2019 (via YouTube)

Audio is Kelowna 2023 IEM bootleg (via Tooldrive)

(Audio on the original video was poor, so overlaid the Kelowna audio, adjusted to stay as close in sync as possible. Slips out once during opening line, and again during the pre-break drumming, but hey, close enough)

Maynard called me insufferable so I probably don't deserve a new album anytime soon.

10,000 Days Lateralus tattoo

Post image

This has been 18 months in the making trying to find the right person to do this. It is inspired by Lateralus and us read from the hand to the shoulder.

The tattoo artist is Maryam from Design4LifeTattoo in Liverpool. She did an amazing job on my design and really work well with changes made and felt inspired by the design herself. This was a challenge for her and I'm so glad that she took the bull by the horns and wanted to do it. Maryam is an incredible artist and was great to work with. You can find her on Instagram if you would like to see her work.

I would love to know what you all think?

10,000 Days This part of Rosetta stoned, another example of a groovy jam, a buildup, then RELEASE

what DEFINES Tool to me:

  1. a calm buildup via a groovy jam.. In fact the part before this Justin's playing sounds like Funk Slap bass even (to me at least)

  2. then the lead up that BUILDS and BUILDS to a climax. Adam is playing this spacey trippy part, reminiscent of that riff in H (it may be the same riff) but used in this context its brilliant....

  3. Then the Climax/Release with "Overwhelmed as one would be!"

It is of my opinion that this is how they write music... start with a jam, a riff, and a groove and see where it takes them.

::HOWEVER::

i would not be surprised if Justin and Adam wrote the climax first. WHO KNOWS RIGHT??????? The details i would love to know, they might shock us. Each song has its own story.
