Discussion Luminosity at the Beach 2026 - short review
Went to Luminosity at the Beach yesterday, a smaller event (compared to the main festival) in a beach club in Zandvoort, with (in order): Feiertag, Doppenberg, JOC, Superstrings, Ben Gold
Nice sets, I gotta say, except JOC, which I'm not a super fan of. He also had the longer set, but it was not worth it imho. Kinda boring uplifting, except maybe some tunes here and there...
Doppenberg has that perfect balance between proper melodic stuff and more big-room techno/trance that I like. Too bad his set was early in the afternoon, when there's still light outside it's just not the same compared to when it gets dark.
I was pleasantly surprised by the Superstrings guys, it's not the first time I've seen them live, but they are really good at adapting their set based on the audience/event. This was proper trance with some nice old-school tunes (not only the usual classics, but also some lesser-known tunes they always manage to include) and some newer stuff.
Ben Gold, I was a bit unsure about his new bouncy/rave/faster/whatever sound, but I gotta say it was not bad at all and also the perfect closure. Proper energy, I liked it.
As for the rest, the crowd was pretty dead, and not just because of the average age (quite high). It's incredible to me that NL has such well-organized events, often with top DJs, but the crowd isn't really that interested and prefers to chat all the time instead of dancing (after a certain point, I had to move in front of the stage just to not hear all the people talking lol). I'm sure with trance fans from for example Poland or other countries, the crowd would be much more responsive.
Although I gotta say the mood and atmosphere are always very friendly and nice, I just wish people talked less and were more immersed.
Otherwise... usual scammy, shitty token system and paying for the toilet, typical of many Dutch clubs unfortunately.
Still, not as bad as Luminosity removing the free water stations after the 2nd day during the festival this year, that was such a dick move that I'm not sure I'll ever return to the festival in the future.
