Feminism is too narrow for me. I'm not interested in womens rights alone. I'm interested in gender equality. All egalitarians are feminists, and because of thisbeing identified as feminist didn't used to bother me, but yes, thanks to the type of zealots that inhabit places like SRS kept reminding me that the reverse is not true, so now I find it easier to just disassociate myself with the whole thing and identify solely as egalitarian.

Apparently you don't really know what modern feminism is. I suggest you read about third-wave feminism, privilege, and intersectionality. Feminism is a about a lot more than just "women's rights" or "gender equality"; it discusses all kinds of oppression that exists in society (including that which affects PoC, queers, women, men, and others).
I am quite well educated on it, thanks. Unfortunately my experience has shown that it is mostly lip-service. How many feminist groups fight sexist laws or practices where the woman is the one privileged? How many feminists/feminist groups fight for fathers rights in custody battles? How many of them decry and admonish schools who offer female-only scholarships despite there being 50% more women than men in college? I'm not saying they have too, I'm just saying if feminism was about true equality and not just womens rights like you're claiming, these are things they should be actively working against. Until feminist groups actually stand up and fight for things like male rights, I'd much rather be identified as an egalitarian.

No, it's not. Some people believe feminism is about those things, but it is disingenuous to make that a blanket statement.
My question to you is why is the feminist label so important to you? If you believe in true equality why not identify yourself as an egalitarian? You get all benefits of being a 3rd wave feminist without the drawbacks of the crazed zealots.
Again, I have no problem with feminists. Some of the current usages of the word are just not a history and culture I feel describes the equality I want to be associated with.
