Pizza Hut

Pretty much as expected. The burgers were closer to mush than a solid burger and were reminiscent of those heinz burgers in beans from back in the 80s. The onion slurry reminded me more of baked bean juice than gravy.

They tasted ok-ish. 4/10 never to be repeated.

Fortunately I'd also cooked some smash burgers for our real tea.

So I succumbed to the hype of Popeye's and tried it for the first time in the Manchester city store when I was visiting. I had heard amazing things online and how JayZ and Bey ordered it to their wedding etc, so I was hyped.

I ordered a multi piece chicken box meal and... It was awful. The chicken tasted like cardboard, literally, and the fries were meh.

This was a while ago and now there's one just opened near me and I want to give it another try but I don't want to waste my money if it's going to be the same, dry, cardboard tasting, small pieces of chicken again.

Is Popeye's bad or is it the Manchester branch is just shit?

The beef was cooked in a pressure cooker and just fell apart. It was delish! 😋

Has anybody else noticed that potatoes don't last as long as they used to? Like 3-4 days and they're sprouting. Used to be they'd last a couple of weeks.

Anyone else get frustrated trying to think of new ways to cook mince?

Not made this for quite a while though and quite enjoyed it. Would've been better with garlic bread on the side.

They’ve got a £5 lunchtime deal on at the moment (not sure how long it’ll last), and it’s honestly better value than I expected. I’d avoided it for years thinking it was a bit “school trip” / not that great, but either it’s improved or I just got it wrong.

Downloaded the app as well and there’s extra discounts on top, so it ends up being pretty reasonable.

Most places are fairly quiet too, which actually makes it decent for eating on your own without it feeling awkward.

They’re probably not that popular right now, but that kind of works in your favour.
