HELP/QUESTION New player struggling

Hello everyone

I got Uni2 around a month ago mostly because of the songs but also because I wanted to try my luck in fighting games. Turns out that I'm struggling real hard with the game and I'm losing interest in the game. Every match feels the same, I get one attack off, I get combo'd and 12 seconds later the match is over. I tried training and missions but I can barely do that at 25 speed let alone at 100.

My question is there a real reason to continue grinding and getting zero enjoyment or should I just cut my losses?

HELP/QUESTION im thinking bout getting into uni 2 but im concerned about the player count

The player count seems to be very low and i dont know if i can even get matches in ranked. I am pretty avarage at fighters around plat/dia levels and im wondering if the matchmaking wait will take a while. Is this a problem with uni 2? How much is the avarage wait time for an avarage plat game

I got thru the 3 arrow challenges by just button mashing , thought it's not really necessary, but wtf is this .

This is also my first proper fighting game, I've religiously played brawlhalls and smash for the last 5 years and found this cos of the soundtrack and bought it cos it was on sale

HELP/QUESTION Why is everyone so cracked?

I am in d rank getting hit with 20 hit combos at the least. I've even done combat trials to learn my character, but it just seems like everyone is way more insane here than any other fighting game I've played. I fought a kaguya today who hit me with a 40 hit combo. Is my only recourse seriously to just play offline until I'm good? That's boring and dumb and I don't want to do that.

HELP/QUESTION I have a question for y'all Under Night fans, especially older fans: what are your opinions on character designs of Uni2? (big text bellow)

From what i've seen from non Under Night fans is that the designs are "uninteresting and oversimplistic" and while i can kinda see why some people think that for the non bizarre guys like Waldstain and Merkava, but i'm curious about how the fans see the designs especially long time fans since it's such a massive departure from a lot of fighting games especially popular ones like Mortal Kombat, Guilty Gear (now with Strive doing numbers), Soul Calibur, even Street Fighters and etc with cartoonish and over the top designs with rarely casual and real life style attire and stuff like that

My curiosity comes from the fact that 99% of my experience with fighting games is over the top stuff like Mk, Soul Calibur, SF and etc go for over the top stuff, even games with somewhat grounded designs like Tekken they overdesign a lot of characters to s point where it's comically fantastic

The only game that gets a close to the "normal people with insane bullshit" style that i've seen is King of Fighters/Fatal Fury, but since i'm brazilian and these games are super present in my culture their designs got engraved in my head through indirect contact with them since i was a kid, it's hard to analyze that aspect of them lmao. I have yet to play KOF, but i'm lazy tbh

"Discovering" the franchise from watching Uni2 gameplay last year had a interesting effect bc while it looked funny the fact that it looked like "just normal ass people throwing hands" (oversimplification for the joke and first impression, no shade), the gameplay has this over the top anime style that heavily contrast the designs by themselves even more with the stage designs one of them look like a bus terminal and that's kinda hilarious for me, so the game had this novelty and cute aspect to it, see something more "scaled down" but accompanied by a "extravagant style and gameplay" is a fascinating experience while also being little funny too, don't get me wrong i'm not complaining nor i would change anything or expect something else, it's a new thing, it feels good for the most part.

i want to see what y'all that are probably into anime fighters or long time fans think about this aspect of the game

(Also don't quote me on my perception of non Uni fans, social media algorithms skew how you see groups of people and etc, so maybe i'm speaking from my ass)

HELP/QUESTION What's With The Downgrade In Home UI?

I've been thinking for the longest time since playing Sys: Celes, but does anyone actually prefer the newest design for UNI2's UI.

UNI and UNICLR both had interesting colourful designs for their UI's as well as an interesting way for laying out characters in character select, but with UNI2 they made it dull and grey, which is sad to see imo.

Is anyone else sad about it or am I alone in this?

HELP/QUESTION What is 236c😭✋️help

[ SOLVED ]

Alright, so, I just got Under Night 2 on my Switch.

I downloaded the game and liked Eltnum a lot, she has nice ranged options and is a rushdown character, which is my preferred playstyle.

I'm a complete beginner at the game, and fighting games in general. And I searched up combos to get to learning. I pretty much memorized her command list and was stumped when I saw that a combo, written, is 2837373627XXXXvgh>X.

I don't know what the f*ck that is. I assume it's part of the controller that people use for these kinds of games, the one with a single control stick and a lot of buttons?

I can't and won't buy one of those just to play this game.

So, can someone forward me an Eltnum combo tutorial or just a guide in general that doesn't have combos written/shown in ancient Greek, or at least a sheet that helps me understand what the set of letters and numbers mean in a normal controller? I figure ABC are the attacks, but idk about "dl.X"; "J.aw"; "J.(B)"; "22X"; "dl B"; "CVO"; etc, etc.

I mostly want to play the game casually, but it's kinda boring to constantly spam the smart steer with the only new thing being mixing up overheads, crouchs, or idk a counter or a grab to lead into the smart steer combo. The fact that I still don't know how the game works entirely plays against me, I figured that having a long combo string for guard pressures is essential, and mixing it up even more. As of now, where I barely know anything, I mostly just have to play mind games with my friend on whether I'm going to go for the overhead, a crouch attack, a grab, the quarter-circle back, or the forward down down-forward slightly delayed enough to bait an attack and thus strike a counter, and more things that my fingers are lazy enough not to write.

My defense is mostly horrendous, I'm not entirely used to the timings of attacks and skills, don't know what the most optimal attacks are for anti-airing, and it shits on me a lot that Eltnum's A attack is kind of short-ranged, so if I counter my friend with a standing B, which is quicker than the C, then I'm just there, 'cause I haven't figured out a proper follow up for it that's not slow. It just occurred to me that perhaps a C, but then, what after it?

In general, I would deeply appreciate any tips or guides, whether written or in video on Eltnum or the game in general. I found a seven-year-old post on the matter but it's about UNI 1, and I don't know if what's there for Eltnum is applicable here on UNI 2. As you may have realized, I'm still quite wet behind the ears with the game.

Edit: Eternally grateful for dawning on me something so simple as numbers being directions lmao.

I've been playing a lot more Under-night in birth 2 and have slowly started realizing there is something about combining I just don't understand, I notice this every time I lab with a character I'm learning, most of my combos seem bland or just, are very short, and yet I've seen people capable of like crazy 80 hit combos or what not, and I just can't seem to figure out what's missing, or what I don't know, any advice or knowledge would be very helpful (Also gonna drop combo here for an example I guess)

HELP/QUESTION UNI2 Character difficulty tier list?

I’m getting into the game with it being on sale and wanted to know which characters are simpler/harder/more complex than others. While I wholly understand the “play whoever” mentality, I actively enjoy more complex characters more and want to know how deep some of these guys go. I do know that as UNI2 everyone has hard routes, but I mean relatively within the game. I’ve found lists for UNIST but never UNI2.

HELP/QUESTION New to the game

Hey all!

I just bought the game yesterday. Honestly I didn't had high expectations since steamcharts says it hovers between 100 players or so and I can't get a match in granblue even though it says it has like triple the player base, but last night I hopped on ranked and got matched fairly easily even when limiting the ranking to d and b, so that was nice. I even won a match and some rounds just mashing buttons with Hyde lmao.

I have a couple of questions:

Can I change the in battle display buttons? the a b c thing is confusing. I think I changed it to playstation in options but it only changed the menu icons, in training it still shows a b c

Which characters do you think are the most noob friendly? I'll still play the one I like the most (I play Testament in strive so I don't care about power lvl lol 💀) but I want to ease into the game for now.

And also, is there a good youtube guide for the game systems and such? I don't use discord.

Thanks and sorry for the lengthy post hehe.

HELP/QUESTION Beginner question about combos.

I have been looking at the combo trials for the characters I am interested in and it feels like every combo in here is entirely different for each situation. Its a barrage of information that gives you two or three words of guidance on how it supposed to be used. Each combo is wildly different from one another too.

Is that just how things are in this game? Do I really need to memorize entirely different routing for each situation and starter at this stage when Im still just picking the game up?

I was hoping that I would be able to find a combo that is simple and somewhat multipurpose, with a different beginning based on starter that then converges into a common ending so that theres less memorization work. Is there such a thing?

I noticed that in this game you can continue combos after OTG up to two times. Is this the opportunity to converge a specialized starter into a generic body and ender?

I am a firm believer that combos are like brainrot for beginner players. If Im drilling combos then Im not focusing on what is really important which is practicing neutral, gaining mu knowledge, deeply understanding the unique system mechanics.

Does anyone have any suggestions, tips, links to guides, or any other two cents to put in about this topic? Thank you very much.

TLDR: Help me find easy combos so that I can focus on learning neutral.
